Pornceptual, House of Red Doors, Gegen, Revolver and basically every Klubnacht at Berghain – Fetish and sex positive parties are taking over the capital. From being more of a niche branch years back, sexy, kinky fashion has become the new normal on the dance floors. So, the question is no longer: “What’re you gonna wear tonight?” but more: “How much are you gonna wear tonight?”. Being fully naked is easy, but choosing just the right amount of fabric to make everyone be like: “Oh wow! DAMN!”. That’s the fashion challenge here! For anyone who wants to join the party, but does not feel quite ready for this less-is-more fashion extravaganza – Here are some go-to-looks that never get old.

Do you remember the good old days when the whole family went to the ballet to see the Nutcracker or Swan Lake for the holidays? At least in Germany it is a tradition on Christmas to go to the theater or to the ballet. Usually the Christmas program is very charming and family-friendly. If you have your parents coming to visit and want to experience this kind of theater I recommend you check out the program of Staatsballett and Komische Oper (but if you really want to go remember to book your tickets in advance)
The good thing in Berlin is that there is always the extreme opposite to all the typical German traditions. We found an unusual and intriguing selection of hot contemporary dance pieces and events coming up in the next few weeks, that we would like to present you here. The pieces after the jump might not be family friendly, but will definitely crack some nuts (in one way or another). Our list with photos and trailers after the jump.

For the Berlin contemporary dance world January is one of the most important months of the year due to the festival Tanztage at the Sophiensaele. This year’s edition has a new artistic director, Anna Müller, and the focus is the interdisciplinary nature of many young artists whose playing field is not just restricted to dance. They set out to discover new worlds or genres and address choreographic issues in pop culture such as: striptease and breakdance, club culture, talk shows and pop music. All things we actually like and want to see on stage more often.
(Side note: Of course I just want to see male strippers on stage because of their effect on my social perception. Male stripping is seen as a social deviance and through its performances creates a sort of equality in relation to the predominantly normative female stripping, giving the women in the audience the feeling of empowerment. And of course I have to take in consideration the visual pleasure I receive as a side-effect from such an important cultural step into gender equality. Therefore I see it as my personal duty to go to any show were hot male stripping is promised on the flyer.)
The eleven day long performance marathon with nine premieres and five revivals invites the audience to discover new choreographic talents and to enjoy contemporary dance in this beautiful theater. Of course we should not forget to mention the fabulous party that will take place there tonight. If you have just a quick look into the program of the 24th edition of the festival you get the feeling as if almost any show has some queer topic. Actually not very surprising since the contemporary dance world consists to 80% of gay men and 20% of feminist women (of course just a superficial assumption based on my subjective experience and not on real statistics) Some recommendations after the jump.

At first glance, what captured my attention about Viktoria Modesta was the look in her eyes—they’re alluring, burning with ambition and sex appeal—and then, as the camera pans down in the music video for her single Prototype, I noticed something strange. A needle held by surgical-gloved hands rose into the air, as did a gleaming knife marked in red, while she sat there in her thrown, surrounded by red-robed characters. We go on to discover that she sports a prosthetic left leg, seen as a source of power and revolution throughout the music video, which was made for Channel 4’s Born Risky campaign set to challenge society’s stereotypes. And she does exactly that, strutting and dancing with a with a Swarovski leg and a bionic leg that gives Lady Gaga a run for her money, as the story raises her to a higher power, worshipped by the younger generation in secrecy. Many girls grow up dreaming of becoming pop stars, complete with a media-generated idea of the perfect body image. And now British singer, songwriter and model Viktoria Modesta is here to stomp all over that. Check out this rising star and fashion muse with her iconic leg, as well as the music video for Prototype after the jump.

Fashion Week is coming up and even if you are not so involved in the whole circus you must have realized by now that there are so many things going on where you can potentially meet someone unexpected. This makes Fashion Week the perfect playground for flirting if you take care of some basic fliriting rules.
First of all you should get rid of the prejudice that fashionistas are somehow an entirely different species that is just living off designer brands and beauty products. Most nice fashionable people have a lot of other interests, can discuss politics and social inequality and spend their weekends in their sweatpants just like everybody else. It’s somehow typical for people in Berlin to believe that just because somebody likes to be well groomed and dressed up it means he or she is shallow and stupid. Having that in mind my first and most important recommendation that I also give in any of my other flirting guides: Leave your narrow minded judgements on other people at home and combine a nice dose of openess with a charming outift if you want to get laid or just have a nice flirt.
So many of my friends apparently got lucky during Fashion Week that maybe you don’t even need so many instructions to enjoy all the parties and beauty. Still I think there are some flirtation Faux Pas that could/should be avoided. Read my advice after the jump.

Mrs K. B.
Tomorrow night, on March 12 2011 the Heimathafen Neukölln welcomes the Urban Art Circus to town. This event is also part of the Street Lab Berlin festival mentioned earlier. The Urban Art Circus is planned as a unique art project that brings together urban art forms in an experimental way. Based on hip hop battle traditions several art forms will compete against each other in tournament style.
The audience stands in the middle of this clash of creativity and experiences intriguing hot live performances. The outcome is impossible to predict. For myself I am curious to see how the dancing girls from Mrs K. B. (pictured above) will fight the renowned Puppetmastaz. The date of the show and the address after the jump.

And again we had a little trip into the world of print publications. Suz and I wrote three little columns on different topics for the daily fashion week newspaper of BerlinFashion.TV. I had the chance to write about the topic Men and gave some insides about the new approach to male jewellery. You can find the text (in German) after the jump. Read on…

What happens if you put some sexy Israelis in a rehearsel room with five Thai dancers. Some of them even being Ladyboys? Well, to me it sounds like an interesting gender-experiment! I hope that my expectations aren’t too high on the piece On Air from Nir de Volff this Friday. But since I liked most of Nir de Volffs choreographies I am sure that it will be a blast. Check it out for yourself if you’re interested in a crazy dance/theater performance with some eyecandys on the pie. Dates and more impressions after the jump.

And… SWOOSH!! There comes – totally out of the blue – a non-Berlin-related naked boy between our party tipps and exhibitions that we normally write about here. Just for the fun of it! And in this case in the shape of Brazilian model Marlon Teixeira as captured by one Terry Richardson off of very popular photographer at the moment. He did this for a clothing label we couldn’t care less for. It’s called… no, I forgot. And there are not so many clothes to see in the first place. See for yourself after the jump.

My first thoughts when I considered going to the Le Petit Pö pool party at the Bar 25 Spa were that a) I should not have any kind of cake for breakfast on Sunday and b) that I should go to the gym before. Well, too bad that the Cupcake Lady decided to give me some cheesecake and banana bread for free that morning, just to torture me. She knows I won’t say no. And secondly what was I expecting to change with one day at the Gym? Well, at least I went…
So, at the party we got what the flyer promised. Sexy people splashing in the pool, a champagne bar, a BBQ and a cute little dancefloor with Disco music. Some more impressions after the jump. They involve some raunchy positions…
