Today we would like to offer you our juiciest piece of our seasonal Berlin Fashion Week cake: Our favorite collections. We’ve had a great time checking out all the shows and presentations and it was truely a wild and inspiring season. Never before have we seen so much colors and unconventional designs on the runway of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. A big toast to all the designers who have dared to be more progressive and less conformative this summer. Enjoy our highlights after the jump.

As a creative person the best thing you can do with your life is do the one thing you are most passionate about. In the case of young photographer Joseph Wolfgang Ohlert it’s obviously naked hot guys. Well, not exclusively to be fair, his contributions to our We Are Berlin photo exhibition showed a way more diverse view into his photographic world. But still, the naked hot guys are a recurring theme in his work and we would be the last people to complain about that as he’s doing that genre of photography really well. After the jump we present you his latest series of male portraits in various states of undress that he took here at the recent Berlin Fashion Week in the backstage of the show of the label Sopopular. Enjoy!

Berlin Fashion Week has come and already gone, which means I finally have some time to make sense of the menswear madness of this season. Men’s Fall/Winter fashion has never really been a draw at Berlin Fashion Week, but this January there were definitely a few shows who made it the perfect fashionistas catcher. From upcoming designers who raised the bar, to impeccable classic designs, and to the occasional ‘wtf?’, Berlin Fashion Week was again a great surprise. After a marathon through shows and some catching up online, I broke down the 8 Best Menswear collections that mattered most this season. Enjoy them after the jump!

Everybody who follows our blog knows that we are huge fans and supporters of Berlin’s fashion scene. We organized fashion shows, photo shootings, fashion film screenings, designed our own collections and even created our own fashion comedy show. Our next fashion-related project will be our Cinèma de Mode event tomorrow on October 2 featuring fashion films from Berlin and the rest of the world and we hope you can all attend.
On the occasion of this event we wanted to introduce you to Berlin labels that we consider to be outstanding in creativity and design. We also wanted to introduce you to the recent collaboration between Zalando Lounge and a couple of young Berlin labels. Zalando Lounge is an exclusive online shopping experience, where you get the chance to shop limited designs on a certain date with a special discount of up to 75%. They have recently updated their brand portfolio with a great range of Berlin labels and we think that is a great deal for the designers and their customers. After the jump we will introduce you to Sopopular, Blush, Frontrow Society, LVC by Lauren Victoria Craig and Umasan.

In my eyes this Fashion Week edition was outstanding. Throughout the week I took a look at most of the Spring/Summer 2015 menswear collections presented during Berlin Fashion Week, picked my 10 favourite collections and rounded up two of the best looks from each. All the looks seemed very accessible to me with a high wearibility factor and a strong sporty vibe. Even though designers played with different fabrics, shapes and designs, it is quite easy to identify a few strong trends for next summer. Overall the creations were very relaxed and in neutral colors white, black and grey and just the occasional pop of bright colours in the different shades of blue and red. Check out the key pieces from Berlin Fashion Week’s strongest menswear collections and start looking for inspiration for new outfits after the jump! Read on…

Let’s face the facts: During Berlin Fashion Week in January and July there is just so much going on compressed in just a couple of days that it’s humanly impossible to make it to all the events that might interest you. So it’s a not a big surprise that some event organizers (including my own project Designer Scouts) have moved outside of Fashion Week to avoid these overcrowded days where everyone is just complaining how stressful everything is (first world problems…). The new fashion festival Berlin Dress would fit perfectly into the Fashion Week, but the organizers Berlin Pieces have decided to do it now in late August. I welcome that decision because in between Fashion Weeks there is so few fashion events going on in Berlin that I am happy that we have yet another. Find out more about it and win guestlist spots for the opening on Friday after the jump.

Today’s Cinéma de Mode features Taxi Taxi Production‘s latest fashion film Black Hole Sun for SOPOPULAR‘s Spring/Summer 2014 collection, recently unveiled during the Berlin Fashion Week. The black & white collection video takes its inspiration from the music of the ’90s, featuring a remix of US-band Soundgarden‘s song Black Hole Sun by Charlie Runkle. The film’s highlight is with no doubts the geometrical cube pattern, which reflects not only the influence of Japanese architect Tadao Ando on the entire collection, but also the constant minimalism of the label. Enjoy the film after the jump.

Today we are launching a new format on the blog: The Fitting Room. This new series will give us the chance to do something we have actually done for quite a while, but never really took full advantage of: Meeting designers we like in their studio and trying on their amazing clothes. But from now on, whenever we will get the chance to do this, we will bring our camera and take pictures to present you their designs here on iHeartBerlin.
We’ll start with Sopopular today, a young Berlin-based menswear label run by designer Daniel Blechman who we visted a few weeks ago in his studio in Kreuzberg. The label is in its fourth year now and has created quite the buzz with their latest Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection titled The Wild Ones which they presented in the Studio of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week back in January and earned great applause. For their campaign and fashion film they used some bad-boy-style tattooed models that really hit the nerve of the current fashion aesthetics. In their collection they made the smart move of combining current trends such as studs and crochet with their own unique signature silhouettes and fabric mixes. This way they created a look that is both commercially appealing while still maintaining a post-modern attitude. Enjoy the new Sopopular designs worn and photographed by Devid and me.

This week’s Cinéma de Mode brings to you the fashion film The Wild One directed by Juan Manuel Sanchez for the Berlin-based menswear label SOPOPULAR. The video presents the new Fall/Winter collection 2013 and is definitely an ode to outstanding masculinity, with bad boys stars and hot tattooed models Daniel Bamdad and Norman Theuerkorn. Particularly impressive is the overlay of floating jellyfish against the bodies of the models, which generates a dark tension between harmony and danger. The collection, unveiled during Berlin Fashion Week, features blazers and patterned shirts, joined by a studded shoulder leather jacket that clearly is the stand-out piece. Enjoy the video after the jump!
