The Six Day Berlin Bike Race at Velodrom

The Six Day Berlin Bike Race at Velodrom

Lycra, lights, DJs, sweat and slings. This could be another night at Berghain, but instead we find ourselves at the Velodrom at the 107th Six Day Berlin race– the world’s oldest six-day bike race- thanks to the kind invitation of GASAG who is one of the sponsors of the event. Do you want to experience it as well? We have tickets for you to win!

Berlin is a city of bikers. We use bikes to get around town and to work more so than most people in other large cities. And, most of us have a close relationship with bikes. They can be a fashion accessory. They get you where you need to go. And, they are generally more reliable than the last person you talked to on Tinder (just don’t park it near Kotti, otherwise it will also disappear).

How to Enjoy Berlin for Free

How to Enjoy Berlin for Free

Most things that are fun in Berlin come at a certain price. At least that’s what you would think! But in the spirit of something for everyone Berlin also has a lot to offer for those that have a bank statement with a lot of red numbers and a wallet that has only receipts instead of bills. We’ve all been there, you don’t need to justify yourself or feel bad about it if you spent your entire allowance at Berghain on the first weekend of the month.

Here at iHeartBerlin we have no judgement about your financial status and we still want to make sure you have the right amount of fun in the city. So we compiled a list of many activities that you can pursue in Berlin that are completely for free. Enjoy!

Agape Zoe – The Coolest Yoga Festival in Berlin

Agape Zoe – The Coolest Yoga Festival in Berlin

photos: Grit Siwonia

Yoga is just for yuppies, for crazy hippie women or for body fanatics. The prejudices about yoga are numerous and persistent. And they are all true. Because yoga is for everybody. The yoga world is one of the most non-excluding bubbles I have ever stumbled upon. Either you wear a suit and work in a bank all week or wear a long hippie gown and sell tea in a tea shop. It doesn’t matter anymore when you are standing on the mat practicing yoga together. And that is actually kind of the best social side effect of yoga. People who would never interact with each other start speaking with a cup of tea in their hand after the class. For me it is the diversity of people practicing yoga that makes it a great social adventure all the times I go to my sun yoga studio.

If you are intrigued by this world of yoga and spirituality but never got the chance to experience it I can warmly recommend the Agape Zoe Festival. Inside in the paradisiac Eden Studios (where contemporary dancers train during the week) this weekend from September 10th till 11th a great spectrum of yoga, meditation and other approaches to all kinds of mind and body practices are presented. And since it is Berlin after the yoga classes there will be a nice electronic DJ set to finish gloriously. If you want to participate you can buy a ticket our take part in our raffle in the comments area. Check out their website for more info and watch the trailer and more photos after the jump.

Jump House Berlin: Back to the Nineties

Jump House Berlin: Back to the Nineties

My professional experience in viral topics connected to Berlin would result in following list: Berghain, Berghain, Berghain, Porn, Sex, Avocado Toast and Bouncy Castles. Yes! Bouncing castles and bouncy houses are totally a thing now in Berlin. A couple of years ago a giant bouncy castle was opened in Berlin for a contemporary dance festival (one of those events that was described as super pretentious by mainstream society, but was actually super fun instead). The lines where huge and the hype legit: the bouncing castle was one of the funniest thing in my life.

Where there is a hype – there is a business man making money with it. Last Friday a place called Jump House Berlin opened its doors for the adrenaline hungry Berliners who can not wait to encourage their internal organs to switch places inside their body (who cares about natural order, it’s Berlin after all!). The promo video (with an interesting choice in music) was shared so many times in my Facebook stream that I started wondering if I should look out for new friends. The bold color choice of orange and purple reminds me of the sport center SEZ at Landsberger Allee: the biggest sport park in the history of the former GDR. Maybe it’s the nostalgia for your childhood when you were listening to Jump for Joy by 2Unlimited and literally jumped on your bed up and down, or maybe it’s the curiosity to experience something completely new: the Jump House Berlin is waiting for your in all its atrocious beauty in the “Szenekiez” Reinickendorf. More about the jump after the jump.

The 10 best Bike Routes in Berlin

The 10 best Bike Routes in Berlin

Germany is a biking nation. Probably everyone you would randomly ask on the street has a bunch of personal and emotional stories to tell you connected with their bikes. Regardless of the weather or personal fitness biking through the city is the most  beloved way of transportation in Berlin. But besides practical reasons, biking can be quite some fun if you know the good streets and bike lanes and avoid busy and narrow boardwalks. What brings biking pleasure to a new level? Having a great bike which is adapted to the needs of the urban dweller. We gathered some shops where you can finde a good bike for your needs in this article. When you found the right bike I would suggest you to use it not only in the city but also to get out of the city.  I collected some great biking spots and routes for you to explore the city on your beloved bike. Since I am not a bike-expert I asked my friends who are doing Komoot to help me out a little bit. Komoot is a great bike app that helps you create the perfect bike tour for your needs. This is how I could put together some really great places to have your summer bike adventure. Read on…

Invicuts by Paco Rabanne – The Final Countdown

Invicuts by Paco Rabanne – The Final Countdown

If you’ve been around town you have probably come across it already at some point. The new campaign for Paco Rabanne’s new fragrance Invictus and its main character Nick Youngquest are everywhere. But as I have already posted previously the campaign is much more than just the posters and commercial spot. Along with the launch they started the Invictus Award, a new competition where 7 athletes from all over the world compete against each other and can win the trophy along with the funding for a sports-related project that they want to do. You can watch a reality webseries about the Invictus Award here and you can still vote for our Berlin contestant Markus to support a local sportsman. More about it after the jump.

Dragons, Athletes and Fragrances – Paco Rabanne launches Invictus

Dragons, Athletes and Fragrances – Paco Rabanne launches Invictus

One of the major perks of running a blog such as this is the opportunity to travel to different places and meet interesting new people. I feel it’s such a privilege and I am so blessed everytime I have the chance to enjoy it. Earlier this year I took some short trips to the beautiful city of love – Paris – courtesy of French label Paco Rabanne. I was invited to experience the launch of their new menswear fragrance Invictus that will be released next month. As the campaign was pretty much a big secret I couldn’t really reveal anything about my trips other than a few Instagram shots. But now the lid has been lifted…

Read more about the elaborate campaign of Invictus by Paco Rabanne, its involvement with 7 different athletes from all over the world, how I created my own perfume and what my and Berlin’s role in this is going to be, after the jump.
