Probably the most dreaded characteristic of Berlin is its continental climate – especially the ruthless winters. It feels like many expats would happily switch from a full-time residency to summer guest appearances – but as avowed Berliners, we have a bunch of strategies to cope with the cold and make sure you enjoy our beautiful Hauptstadt all year round. This is Berlin Art Week. I admit I dread those Berlin Something Weeks because that means a hell of a lot of events to go through for this guide and not enough time to go to all the things that sound interesting. But I think I’ve managed to sum up some interesting ones for you, though I will have to publish them in two stages starting with the ones earlier in the week. There is always this one precious dress in every girls wardrobe that she adores, but she never wears it because it is simply not the right size or the wrong color. It’s too good to give it away, but how about exchanging it for something she will actually wear? For instance the unworn vintage treasure of another girl, or maybe a brand new designer piece? This is exactly what the SKYY SWAP MARKET is for.

It’s time to swap! On August 27 the SKYY SWAP MARKET is coming back to Berlin to Stadtbad Oderberger. Vintage lovers and fashion fanatics will get the chance to exchange their beloved old outfits for fabulous new ones.
Until August 27 you can bring your own outfits and vintage goods to one of the three SWAP-Spots, have them rated and receive a voucher. With this voucher you will get SWAP-Jetons at the event, with them you can pay for new outfits at the SKYY SWAP MARKET. If you don’t have any outfits to submit, you can still buy the Jetons and get something new at the market. The remaining Jetons can be exchanged for drinks at the After Party where Hadnet Tesfai & Uli Beck, Ali Schwarz and DJ Snax will be playing. All the profits of the evening will be donated to the Berliner Aidshilfe e.V. so your fashion addiction is helping a good cause!
