Music is a huge topic in Berlin: Wherever you go, each district has its own special vibe and unique sound. In some areas it’s just street noises, screaming babies, sometimes it’s the distant bass of a club – or actually musicians playing on the street. Especially in summer a lot of musicians try their luck and spread their musical love at busy places like Schlesisches Tor or Warschauer Straße. Thousands of people pushing and rushing by, only catching glimpses. But sometimes the talent catches our attention and just for a moment in time, everything stops and we take in the sound, the love and passion.
One of those special and crazy street musicians is Strawberryman, who travels the world with his music, living his dream and the goal to inspire others to live their dreams too. But Strawberryman does not only have an unheard name, he also plays an instrument that is one-of-a-kind. See for yourself after the jump…

For the longest time of my life in Berlin the appearance of street musicians made me want to change the car of the subway or the side of the street. For some reason only the least talented people on the planet seemed to be the ones who decided to play live in public here. But in the past few years this has changed. A lot. Now all of a sudden I find myself amazed by the quality of the music that we get to hear now in the U-Bahn stations. I guess the influx of people coming to Berlin in recent time also brought some talent.
The Busker Diaries is a new video series dedicated to the most talented street musicians. The term Busker itself is pretty new to me, I guess it’s a a shorter and more sexy way to describe that you play music in the streets and make a living from the donations of the people and self-produced CD sales. Of the three episodes that have been released so far we like the first one the most with the blue-haired Katie O’Connor who makes really good folk music. Enjoy the film after the jump!
For the upcoming Berlin Festival and the Re:Publica conference the makers of the Busker Diaries are hosting open stages that still have some available slots for musicians. If you are interested you can contact them through their Facebook page.

Some people come to Berlin to do an internship in a PR agency, others come to start their own fashion label, some come to study psychology, others come to just party all weekend, And than there are those who come to play guitare music in the street – naked, with a horse mask. Carl Tomich from Australia definately belongs to the later group and if you were lucky enough you might have caught one of his naked performances here in the city back in the summer or even recently when the weather was decent, as many eager Instagramers captured.
While it is true that the naked horse (or #TheNeighKidHorse as he calls himself more correctly) is making music in the streets he is not actually a musician, but a journalist and film maker and his performances are not really meant to be his choice of lifestyle but and experiment and form of promotion for a documentary called Busking for Berlin that he shot here to shed some light on the lives of some of the street musicians of Berlin and their stories. Enjoy the film and more info after the jump.
