Stroke Urban Art Fair 2013 – Photos

Bernd Muss

Only a few days ago the urban art fair Stroke closed its gates for this years big exhibition at Alte Münze. Of course we went there for you and took a couple of photos of the many amazing artist and gallery booths. I have to say I really enjoyed this edition. I remember after my last visit of the Stroke when it was still at Postbahnhof I left with mixed feelings about the whole set-up and not so many artworks in my head that had amazed me. But this year it was an exciting expedition with one great discovery after the other. Especially the hall of solo artists was really interesting. Enjoy my impressions of my favorite pieces after the jump.

The Weekly Event Guide

The Weekly Event Guide

Belin at Stroke

This is Berlin Art Week. I admit I dread those Berlin Something Weeks because that means a hell of a lot of events to go through for this guide and not enough time to go to all the things that sound interesting. But I think I’ve managed to sum up some interesting ones for you, though I will have to publish them in two stages starting with the ones earlier in the week. I would also like to refer you to some other art-related blogs and websites that will give you further insights and coverage: Castor & Pollux, Artfridge, ArtBerlin, Bpigs, Berlin Artparasites and artconnect Berlin. Have fun with all the art, but remember not to touch anything with your sticky fingers… The event guide – part 1 after the jump.

Is it art or just Idealistic?

The thing I like about artists working in Berlin is that they are not so much bound to economic values like in other big cities and still can have a decent living out of their art. A good way of supporting Berlin artists and don’t spend thousands on a painting is a project called Idealist.  The Idea behind it is to make a book that works as an unique live exhibition. The book is limited to 5000 pieces and has Berlin artists working on the topic of “Kampfgeist”. So, any piece of art in it was especially made for this book. I’m really impressed with this book and think that the price of 100 EUR is pretty ok for that kind of limited edition and effort and work behind it. You can see the book this weekend at the Stroke Urban Art Fair. More about the project and some images after the jump.

Stroke 03

Fans of New Contemporary and Urban Art will be delighted to hear that the STROKE Urban Art Fair is moving from Munich to Berlin for its third edition this coming October. Not only the move from Munich to Berlin – the melting pot for urban and street art – but also the move from spring to fall makes a lot of sense to us because there will be a lot of art fairs and exhibitions taking place to that time during the Kunstherbst.

The venue will be The Station at Gleisdreieck that is also home to the Premium trade show during Fashion Week. We are particularily looking forward to their special exhibition When Bloggers become Artists where 10 bloggers were invited to create a piece of art that will be printed by Whitewall and exhibited at the fair. Participating blogs are LesMads, Amy&Pink, Ignant, Artschoolvets, Styleclicker, Uberding, Eve Without Adam, Whudat, Looky Looky and Suz is submitting something for iHeartBerlin.de.

After the jump you’l find a recap of the last STROKE.ARTFAIR as well as details for the next one.
