It’s funny how I just had a couple of conversations about my trip to Japan in 2008 on the weekend and now when I started to make my research for the new event guide stumbled about this interesting exhibtion about a new Tokyo after the disaster. What else do we have in the guide? A sexy, queer bar night, rebel movies, slut parades, blitz revivals and fleamarkets. The week may start… after the jump.

This week’s event guide comes a bit late and is actually more a short little weekend guide: The university of arts UdK is opening their house for the Rundgang 2011 from Friday to Sunday to showcase the work of their students. One of my favorite galleries, the Strychnin gallery in Friedrichshain, is opening a new group exhibition called Gentle Giants that also features an amazing new sculpture by Berlin-based artist Seymour. Also on Friday young photographer Joseph Wolfgang Ohlert is opening his first solo show Photographed By… at Locht43. Muschi Kreuzberg is having another one of their Fatwalk shows at the 3rd anniversary proud party at Arenaclub on Friday night.
Raf Simons is in town to curate the Avant/Garde Diaries, an exhibition that is open on Saturday and Sunday with a concert of Fisherspooner on Saturday evening. On Saturday there is another big group show by Playground Berlin taking place at the amazing space that is Mica Moca in Wedding where Wood Wood had their fashion show last Friday.

This week we have a giant exhibition opening at several different venues featuring artists based in Berlin, we have the fashion show ESMOD graduates, and the biggest supper club of Berlin. That’s something, huh? This and much more in the event guide after the jump.

FINALLY the summer is back. After last week was uncomfortably cold we can finally go out in the sun again! So it’s time for hanging out in front of cafes and in parks enjoying every ray of sun. But of course there are a few other things to do. Look for this weeks events after the jump.
Pictoplasma
This week you shall not be surprised to see a lot of cute little monsters and quirky characters. No, it’s not the invasion of the new Pokémons, it’s the Pictoplasma Festival that brings a bunch of artists and illustrators to town that have specialized in character design. This week is all in the name of the carnival, but in our case it’s the Mardi Gras that we will experiencing for the first time on Tuesday. For the rest of the week we have a bit of a crazy Wednesday with the Artstars and It Boys, a very art-filled Friday and fashion-related Saturday. The events after the jump.
