Cinéma de Mode: Le Troisième Œil

Cinéma de Mode: Le Troisième Œil

In today’s Cinéma de Mode we present you the new fashion film by Valquire Veljkovic for fashion and costume label Tata Christiane’s AW 13/14 collection Le Troisième Œil. Once again the Berlin-based label proposes an extravagant vision of contemporary street costume, this time in a surrealist 3D video game scenario embellished with sensational spatial, visual, and  light effects. The film showcases mostly white hand made unique pieces with vibrant colorful flowers, which perfectly reflects Tata Christiane’s excessive interpretation of fashion and its unconventional perception of beauty. Enjoy the video, after the jump! Read on…

The third Eye of Tata Christiane

The third Eye of Tata Christiane

I expressed my love for Tata Christiane several times on iHeartBerlin already. And even if not every garment she creates is very elegant or made for grown ups, she is very innovative by creating her own aesthetic and design language. Furthermore I think what makes her work so unique is her outstanding personality. When she appears at a public event, she has the look and the manners of a modern shaman. Her voice is very soft and with a distinguished French accent. She is always smiling and you have the feeling an aura of warm comforting energy is surrounding her movements. This sounds crazy to you? Well, then you don’t have to listen to me, but you should not ignore her new collection called Le troisième Oeil (Third eye).  Obviously the perfect after-yoga-going-to-party outfit. More photos after the jump.

X X X Berlin – The Avant-Garde Haven

X X X Berlin – The Avant-Garde Haven

When I stepped into the X X X Berlin store in Kreuzberg a few weeks ago I thought to myself, oh my god, this is an avant-garde paradise. The look of the store, the selection of designers, the little details everywhere. It’s a dream come true for every lover of avant-garde fashion. They have amazing collections by Berlin-based designers and labels such as Mads Dinesen, Butterfly Soulfire and Tata Christiane, as well as international designers such as Barbara I Gongini and Moonspoon Salon from Denmark, Thomas from Canada, Bjorg from Sweden and Guiseppe Virgoni from Paris, who I think could be called the male counterpart of Augustin Teboul. They also have a very interesting record selection with releases by Dutch label Enfant Terrible that you could call the musical equivalent of avant-garde fashion.

When you dig further into the spacious loft in a hidden backyard at Görlitzer Bahnhof you will also find a beautiful gallery hallway and beyond that a kitchen space that is used for private dinners and presentations. There are also 3 very cool guestrooms that they rent out to artists and designers to work and sleep. It basically has all you need. I want to move in!! Have a look at our photo set from the X X X store and the details after the jump.

A Splash of Creativity – Tom van der Borght and Tata Christiane

A Splash of Creativity – Tom van der Borght and Tata Christiane

When I am watching fashion in a professional context I am never watching for beauty. I always watch for an idea, for a concept, for a creative outcome that I’ve never seen before. This year I had a strange selection of shows I wanted to watch. My plan was to watch really trashy shows and really avant-garde shows. And sometimes there are designers who can handle both in a really good way. A dream come true. This dream was fulfilled this season by the Belgian designer Tom van der Borght and Berlin-based Tata Christiane. Both designers have an incredible way to work with color and prints. If you are like myself always thirsty for a good portion of color you should not miss my impressions after the jump.

Show 1811 – Tata Christiane

The problem of group catwalk- shows is the constant comparison. Who was worse, more boring and less innovative than the other may  be discussed by evil tongues. The best young designer in yesterday’s SHOW 1811 at Tacheles, was certainly the young designer Julie Bourgeois with her label Tata Christiane and her new collection Iqôn in Cabin fever. Some  pictures of her previous impressive collection after the spell.
