Switch On: An Opera for Synthesizer Fetishists

Switch On: An Opera for Synthesizer Fetishists

“We want to talk about your dick” raps gorgeous Tatiana Saphir backed up by a chorus of Opera singers.

Would you expect this kind of lyrics in any opera? Probably not. But the opera Switch On about the discovery of the synthesizer has more to offer than just pornographic lyrics. The Argentinian director Santiago Blaum created one of the most unconventional music theater pieces I saw in my life (and I saw quite a lot of it). It deals with the controversy between what is “classic+natural” and what is “eletronic+synthetic” in music (but actually somehow in all of our life). Finally the piece will come back to Berlin. So don’t miss to visit the piece this weekend at Uferstudios and watch the funny trailer featuring the dick song and many more highlights of the piece after the switch.

The Fruit Salad Guide to Fashion Week in Wedding

The Fruit Salad Guide to Fashion Week in Wedding

Hellooooo my darrrlings, I am back all fruitilicious and colorful as always. Did you miss me? Of course!!! For everybody who doesn’t know me yet: I am Tati the Fruit Salad and I am the fashion editor-in-chief of iHeartBerlin. Watch my adventures at Fashion Week in the episodes of my very own TV show of last year.

I have amazing news for all of you. The Fashion Week is finally moving to my favourite district in all of Berlin: Wedding. There is no place where more crazy fashion and inspiration is going on than here. Every street, every shop and every corner has some fashionable shit going on and sometimes I get so many ideas for my next outfits that I am clueless what to do.

Since all kinds of people from all around the world are coming to Berlin for Fashion Week and they obviously don’t know Wedding so well like I do, I put some really nice places together where to shop, have a nice snack in between the fashion shows and an introduction to the fashion week location itself. Enjoy my delicious guide full of juicy recommendations after the jump.

The Fruit Salad – Dorkypark’s Plush Animal War

Guys! I know I haven’t been around so much lately, but I am still here and all fruity! Last Saturday I was playing some juicy tunes at the Dorkypark Party at Studio44 (not to be confused with Studio56) after a big plush animal fight that transformed the dancefloor into a fluffy battlefield. Frank did some photos and a very special booty-shake-GIF for you. Enjoy and let’s make another fruit salad soon!

7 Days to Halloween: The House of Haunted Hearts

7 Days to Halloween: The House of Haunted Hearts

Halloween has been an obsession of mine since I was a pre-teen thanks to all the special Halloween episodes of all the TV shows that I was watching back than. Unfortunately at the time it was simply not common to celebrate Halloween here in Germany. So no scary costume, haunted house or trick’o’treatin’ for me, much to my disappointment. It’s only been in the last couple of years here in Berlin with all these international cultures coming together that I could finally participate in this American tradition.

This year I’m making myself a dream come true: The House of Haunted Hearts – our very own Halloween party. Of course us being I HEART BERLIN it’s not simply a party – it’s much more. Find out after the jump!

The Fruit Salad: GIF me a Jeans Jumpsuits

The Fruit Salad: GIF me a Jeans Jumpsuits

O.M.G. We got a full page feature in the last issue of zitty Berlin. It’s so amazing! It’s out of control! Speaking about amazing: Jeans jumpsuits are not only this season’s favourite thing to wear, they are an all time fun-piece you can combine with a lot of colorful accessories. And with a lot, I mean a lot. I put a nice ribbon belt on my hips, wore a necklace made out of pens and a headpiece made out of a wind wheel to complete the outfit. Enjoy more  of me  in animated GIFs after the jump.

The Fruit Salad: GIF me a second Head, please

The Fruit Salad: GIF me a second Head, please

Yeay, I have my very own Fruit Salad website now here on I HEART BERLIN where you can watch all my episodes and find all my articles. It’s amazing and totally ingenious. Speaking about ingenious, when I was trying on my outfit for the shooting of the first episode, I had an ingenious idea. Would I look better with another head on top of me? I mean, seriously, what could be a better accessory then a whole head on your head. Well, I am not the only genius, because Charlie Le Mindu thought the same thing. The name of my head is Lola. Lola is from South America and she feels really cold here in Berlin so I had to give her a little woolthingy to feel better.

If you want to know more about my outfit: The crazy pattern dress is from Otto and all the rest is some vintage stuff I bought at several fleamarkets. See more photos and animated GIFs of the outfit after the jump.

The Fruit Salad: There is a Piece of Art on your Head – Charlie Le Mindu

The Fruit Salad: There is a Piece of Art on your Head – Charlie Le Mindu

I love big hair. More hair you have more fun you are on the dance floor. There is nothing more electric than a girl who can show off her massive hair. If you don’t have so much, you don’t have to worry my dear fashionistas. The superman of wigs Charlie Le Mindu was in town for Fashion Week and we were all really impressed by his beautiful hair sculptures. His show Gold Sabah at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival over the pool of Badeschiff was BEYOND. I wanted to have nearly all his beautiful head pieces for my upcoming episodes. And well, maybe I will. See some backstage pictures and a video of his show after the jump.

The Fruit Salad – Episode 3 – Runway

The Fruit Salad – Episode 3 – Runway

If fashion week is war, runway is the battlefield. And I did a good portion of fights last week to go to each event and make sure that everybody noticed that I was there. Is this egomanic? I do’t think so. To see all my adventures at Berlin Fashion Week and to see the shows I visited and enjoyed the most (Patrick Mohr, Moga e Mago, The Shit, Lena Hoschek, Mark Stone and the best of them all Charlie Le Mindu) please have a look at the third episode called Runway after the jump.

The Fruit Salad – The Second Episode: Party

The Fruit Salad – The Second Episode: Party

Fashion Week is over and I am quiet down, even with this great weather in town. But no time for complaints because there is still a lot of articles to write and a lot of outfits to show you. For now be ready for the second episode of my juicy series called “Party”. In this episode I visited together with my camera team the Dandy Diary Pool Party. We had an amazing time with free drinks, some interesting and some crazy people to talk to and a lot of sexual tension between me and David from Dandy Diary. I even met the Fashion God of Berlin. Can you imagine? Maybe I had one or two drinks too much, but no, there is never too much when it’s for free, right?  See for yourself, after the jump and share my video if you like it.
