Some love art and some love pasta. We love both. So switching between fancy art events and delicious Italian cuisine might be a challenge in the next few days of Art Week for us.
The reason: the True Italian Food Festival is in town and is bringing lots of amazing restaurants together in one big food event. The idea is to offer a special regional dish with a drink for only 7 EUR. Very convenient for shy foodies who usually might not try the craziest thing on the menu.
Today the festival hits off and goes on until Sunday. Check here for the list of participating restaurants and go on a food adventure with your friends and lovers.

Already in its second edition, the True Italian Festival of authentic Italian cuisine stormed the city last weekend with over 50 locations to explore. Organized by our friends from Berlino Magazine their goal is to promote Italian dishes that are not so famous in Germany. The great deal about this festival is: You get a unique specialty and a drink all for the special price of 7 Euros. Sounds good right?
This year we decided to have a special look at a cute little restaurant and breakfast place in Friedrichshain. Monti Caffe’ Bar offers a selection of Italian pasta dishes and international cakes and breakfast options. It’s definitely not the typical kitschy Italian restaurant with odd interior choices you might know from your holiday. Instead, Monti is more like a cool urban spot with clear influences of playful Italian design mixed with Berlin elements like concrete and steel details. Check out the address, opening times and some pictures after the jump. Read on…

The Berlino Team
Despite your motivation or ability, learning a new language can be a drag: Until words start making sense, what you experience is constant confusion. The need of a language becomes even more imposing when you’ve moved to the country in which it is spoken: no matter how willing people are to speak in English to accommodate you, awkward situations where you don’t know what is happening in daily life are inevitable: the lady talking to you on the street, the cashier at the supermarket, the signs all around the city.
Berlino Schule, the newly created language school by the team behind Berlino Magazine, is ready to meet the challenges that make learning German unattractive, while keeping their price very very attractive: only 4 Euro/hr. They are devoted to providing a friendly atmosphere for their students, where they can feel as adults learning and not school kids. The groups are small in each class, and the staff keeps exploring new, innovative ways in order to make learning more effective and fun. We had the chance to speak with one of the Berlino founders, Andrea D’Addio, about how he came from running a blog about Berlin to running a language school and how to improve your German learning experience.

You know, there is pizza and than there is original Italian pizza! When it comes to this beloved comfort food I am totally loyal to the people who invented the dish sometime in the 18th century. I actually live right on top of a regular pizza delivery shop, so the temptation is so near, but to be honest I would rather order in a real Italian pizza from further away before I eat even a bite of that globalized crap (sorry) from downstairs.
Berlin is full of pizza places, but how do you know where to find the real deal? A lot of great places are actually really low key in their appearance, so you can’t judge those kind of books by their covers. Luckily our friends from Berlino Magazine found a solution for this dilemma. With their True Italian food festivals they are promoting the best and most authentic Italian restaurants in Berlin. The next edition that takes place in 2018 is dedicated to Pizza. We thought the True Italian Pizza Week is a great opportunity to extract our first True Italian Pizza guide from their list of participating restaurants. If you want to try out some of the best pizzas in town you should follow their map and get a taste of some special pizzas in each of the places marked on it.
To wet your appetite we selected our favorite pizza place per district in our new guide!

There are certain streets in Berlin-Schöneberg that are mostly known for representing gay culture from the 70s to the 90s. Still, the Motzstraßen-Kiez attracts gay tourism and leather lovers from all over the world, especially to certain events like Folsom.
But what took me by surprise last week, was that exactly there, in the middle of the heart of gay Schöneberg, there was a culinary pearl that would teach me new secrets and wonders of the Italian cuisine. Located on Fuggerstraße 27, Trattoria a’ Muntagnola run by Pino and his wise mother Angela is a true Italian classic in Berlin.
Even though the interior is truly inspired by Italian exaggeration the food you will taste there can easily beat that of many star restaurants. Thanks to the True Italian food festival that is currently happening in Berlin for 72h we had the chance to try out some gems of their incredible menu.
