Type Hype – Milk and Typography Products

Mitte has a fabulous new place for coffee at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße. But Type Hype is not just about coffee, even tough theirs is really nice. The new concept store by the label of the same name is specialized in typography-related product design, so you will find things such as pillows, posters, wine bottles, mugs and stationary with big letters in different styles on it. Such a simple idea, but the design is so contemporary and clever that you just want to stack up on the A, B and Cs and decorate your home with it. By the way, you can only see a small selection of the width of products and letters in the shop. On the Type Hype website you can get much more as well as order sets of products with your own letter combinations. Get some first impressions of the beautiful shop after the jump along with the details.

Berlin Art: Saucisse Curry

Berlin Art: Saucisse Curry

Bruce

Street art gallery Urban Spree has a special place for the French in their heart and yet another one for graffiti and typography. So it makes total sense they would invite 8 different French graffiti artists for a group show into their gallery. On Friday they will celebrate the opening of their exhibition Saucisse Curry (which translates to Curry Wurst, if you know what that is) and their will be lots of things going on, not only the exhibition itself but also the presentation of the latest mural on the big outside wall facing Warschauer Straße (which is a tradition for Urban Spree) and a DJ booth installation for the set by DJ Pone. After the jump you will get a little preview of the work of the exhibiting artists. Enjoy!

Where dreams are MADE reality

Ebon Heath at MADE

In Berlin the reality of an artist probably looks pretty much like this: A job as a waiter, a shared apartment with 5 people in Neukölln, a shabby little studio and working materials collected from fleamarkets, backyards and the trash. Not exactly the most inspiring circumstances I would think.

Now imagine this: A spacious white work space on top of Berlin, being surrounded by artists and experts from all kinds of professions, ressources and materials that you desire for your vision. It’s a dream come true for an artist. Only it’s not a dream. This is MADE. A brand new work space for artists in the center of Berlin at Alexander Platz.

Rewind four weeks: I had already heard a lot about this new mysterious place called MADE that was located a few stories below the Weekend Club at Alexander Platz. I just didn’t understand what it was. So, obviously I took the kind invitation of the makers of MADE to find out myself. More after the jump.

Font Heroes – Buchstabenmuseum

There are a few things that pull at my heart-strings such as the smell of coffee, art, flea markets, beaches, bubbles and fonts. You know the feeling, it starts your tummy and runs up your spine Sometimes it ends in a high. Like buying a new pair of shoes. Or lying on your favourite beach. Or reading something on your favourite font.

And so, I was very excited as my attention was recently drawn towards the Buchstabenmuseum (Museum of the Letter) in Mitte. They’re real font heroes in my opinion. If you’re curious to know why, then read on after the jump.
