You’ve probably heard the news by now: The glorious Stattbad Wedding has recently closed (UPDATE Sept 2016: and now news broke it’s being demolished). This weekend the party makers of the club nights Stattnacht are throwing the last two parties in their temporary exile at one of the previously unused halls of Neue Heimat and after that an era has ended. I feel quite sad about this sudden development because the Stattbad was one of those locations that I have recommended through its entire run here on iHeartBerlin, for parties, exhibitions and other crazy stuff happening there. The old public swimming pool found a new purpose in the hands of the makers of Stattbad and the place including all its institutions such as the Open Walls gallery, the Stattbar and the Statt.lab was a wonderful experimental playground for a whole generation of creative Berliners and therefor an important part of the youth culture of Berlin for the past 6 years. It’s a shame that the place has closed so unexpectedly and there is not even a chance to have a final good-bye party there. So as an alternative we went back into our archive and compiled a huge best of from all the coverage and photos we have dedicated to Stattbad over the past 6 years and then some. Enjoy the Stattbad Chronicles after the jump and don’t feel ashamed to shed a tear for this amazing place on the final Stattnacht party on Saturday night and the open air on Sunday. We will miss you, Stattbad Wedding.

So, Frank, do you actually go any place else then Stattbad Wedding these days? It starts to get boring… Well, to be honest, I do go elsewhere. But this is a really pleasant place to take pictures at. Also the Stattbad is closing down for a few weeks so this weekend was my last chance to dance between the sinks, tiles and pipes. The pretty redhead up there is Anna from Reigen, by the way. More after the jump.

Last Sunday I finally came around taking a trip to the former Stadtbad Wedding to see the Urban Affairs extended exhibition. Actually I was planning to take a look at the Monster workshop, but when I arrived I had to learn that it had been canceled. So the more time I had to visit the exhibition. Last year’s Urban Affairs already had a stunning location that I thought couldn’t be any more perfect for displaying street art: the former brewery Friedrichshöhe at Landsberger Allee, also home to PHB Club and Villa. This year’s location has a totally different but equally intriguing vibe to it. While there were brickwalls, cement columns and dark cellars in the last exhibition there are now tiled walls, locker rooms and an empty pool.
While I was waiting for the second floor and the pool area to be opened I took a little tour around the neighborhood where some of the artists partaking at Urban Affairs created some new pieces of street art in the urban wilderness that is Wedding. The exhibition will be open until the end of the month. Check the event schedule here. See some of my impressions of this little field trip and from the exhibition after the jump.

Mode 2
This Friday, one of my favourite galleries in Mitte Lucas Carrieri Art Gallery and Urban Affairs extended will be hosting a vernissage to introduce their latest collabo Post Graffiti – a collection of seven internationally renowned street and graffiti artists from the likes of Sharp, Delta, Mode 2, Eron, Neon, Ebon Heath and Czarnobyl, most of whom have added their creative talent to the Berlin street art landscape and beyond. And if you still think I’m going on about chemical elements and Greek alphabets, then slap me silly, call me Sally and check here and here before you set down your aerosol cans and flick to more pics after the jump.

So, it looks like the Stattbad Wedding is really developing into something hot! Only a few parties and the club is full with just the right kind of people. Like last Saturday for the opening party of the Urban Affairs extended exhibition and the after party of the Berlin Fashion Week. Look after the jump for more.

If you think this week is only about fashion in Berlin you are wrong! Because tomorrow the Urban Affairs Extended Street Art Festival will open at Stattbad Wedding. We saw this last summer at Brauerei Friedrichshöhe and it was pretty amazing. The new location is also very promising as I have already experience a cool party there a few weeks back.
Some of Berlin’s most popular street artists will take part in this big group show, including Anton Unai, Nomad, El Bocho and Alias, as well as international street art hero Banksy. Go after the jump to see the full schedule. You can win tickets for the official party on Saturday here.
