Earlier this year we already presented you the first teaser video of a project titled Faces of N. by Berlin-based audiovisual artist Gabriel Shalom. In the short film you can see model and designer Nicole Roscher (Von Bardonitz) in front of a mirror undressing and dressing in several outfits but edited and looped in a way that the sounds that she made with her clothes and movements assembled a beat and a melody. But the video wasn’t everything, it was an introduction to a full audiovisual EP that Gabriel presented live at an event at CAKE studios a few months later and has now released on his website for the world to see. The EP consists of 5 new videos of Nicole shuffeling and ruffeling her clothes. The sounds recorded during the filming of the video were sampled with a method called granular synthesis which uses very small pieces of audio to create new tones. Some of them were also worked on with an equalizer to emphasize certain frequencies. The result is a set of minimalistic and experimental tracks that will remind you a bit of breakbeat, but stripped down to its core. Enjoy all 5 tracks and the intricately edited videos that go with them after the jump.

In today’s Cinéma de Mode we have the prelude to artist Gabriel Shalom‘s new project Faces of N., an incredible video which questions the multiplicity of identity and the way clothes express our different personalities. The two-minute prelude portrays Nicole Roscher from the fashion label Von Bardonitz in her personal wardrobe dressing in front of a three-paneled mirror, which reflects a visual counterpoint of images of the different outfits. The video is an introduction to a new live audio-visual performance premiering this spring in Berlin. Check it out after the jump! Read on…

Earlier this year Katja shot this charming fashion film for my Designer Scouts project featuring the designs of Berlin-based labels Esther Perbandt, Von Bardonitz, Moga E Mago, Augustin Teboul and Sadak. The video was commissioned by the Fashion & Art Toronto Festival for their Focus Germany program and it was a great way for us to show the work of our Berlin designers abroad.
The film, titled The Visit, showcases a diverse range of avant-garde fashion in a very unexpected setting while making a tongue-in-cheek statement on the quirks of dating behavior of our modern society. Have a look after the jump.

Von Bardonitz
Day 2 of Berlin Fashion Week was all about fashion shows and presentations for us. The day started exciting with a little visit to the backstage area of the JULIAANDBEN show at the studio of the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tent. The Berlin cult label had their first ever runway show with our Designer Scouts event at HBC back in 2010. Now they made it into the official tent and delivered a great collection. See the backstage photos and the show impressions after the jump followed by the shows and parties of Von Bardonitz, Augustin Teboul, Wood Wood and Reality Studio on 4 pages.

Even though I actually missed the runway show the new collection Common Delusion by Berlin-based label Von Bardonitz was one of the highlights for me at the Berlin Fashion Week last month. Great pieces, great colors, unusual, surprising, unique. But after she was one of the audience’s favorite’s at the first Designer Scouts runway show a year ago I was pretty sure she would not disappoint with the follow up collection. More campaign photos after the jump.
