Berlin is a place of unconventional ideas and I think that pretty much applies to all possible things, even something as traditional as a wedding. This beautiful new video by the wedding film makers Hearts on Tape shows a wild Mexican-style wedding taking place at the nightclub Wilde Renate. It looks absolutely beautiful and fun and unique and it’s totally how I imagine the cool folks of Berlin getting hitched. What it is is the new music video for the Moewe Remix of Moby’s new song Almost Home. Enjoy the beautiful video and some photos from the set of the film shooting by the talented wedding photographer Jule Müller (one half of the fabulous Im Gegenteil) after the jump.

Since the beginning of our blogging experience we realized that Berlin has so much more to discover if you just open your eyes a bit wider. We always wanted to find the hidden gems, the undiscovered artist, the small off-theater production and give them the attention they deserved. Now after 7 years we managed to have quite a good knowledge of the city, but still every once in a while we make exciting new experiences here that take our breath away.
Last week we shared a similar experience with a group of fellow Berlin bloggers (FindingBerlin, Herz&Blut, Ghetogether to name a few). The guys from the Kulturfestival Wedding & Moabit wanted to show us the highlights of Wedding with a little tour and they did a marvelous job in presenting us not only spectacular architectonical highlights such as the Amtsgericht Tiergarten but also shared personal moments and anecdotes of their Kiezes with us while enjoying a slice of pizza.
From today on until September 14 the Kulturfestival Wedding & Moabit will transform these two neighborhoods into a lively creative oasis of ideas and festivities. Theater plays, dance performances, exhibitions, picnics, guided tours and of course an endless number of parties are just a few things you can experience during these days. Our recommended hotspots are the famous club Anita Berber, the monumental Amtsgericht and of course the Stattbad Wedding. Maybe after this weekend you will have a different view on Wedding and Moabit. You should also heck out our Fashion Week Guide to Wedding by the way. After the jump some more impressions from the different locations. Find out about the whole program of the festival here. Read on…

Hellooooo my darrrlings, I am back all fruitilicious and colorful as always. Did you miss me? Of course!!! For everybody who doesn’t know me yet: I am Tati the Fruit Salad and I am the fashion editor-in-chief of iHeartBerlin. Watch my adventures at Fashion Week in the episodes of my very own TV show of last year.
I have amazing news for all of you. The Fashion Week is finally moving to my favourite district in all of Berlin: Wedding. There is no place where more crazy fashion and inspiration is going on than here. Every street, every shop and every corner has some fashionable shit going on and sometimes I get so many ideas for my next outfits that I am clueless what to do.
Since all kinds of people from all around the world are coming to Berlin for Fashion Week and they obviously don’t know Wedding so well like I do, I put some really nice places together where to shop, have a nice snack in between the fashion shows and an introduction to the fashion week location itself. Enjoy my delicious guide full of juicy recommendations after the jump.

Contemporary art from China is almost only known under the prominent name of Ai Weiwei. Obviously such a huge country has far more creative talent than only one single individual, even though being an artist in China is probably not the easiest job to pursue due to the dictatorial regime.
One interesting opportunity to discover new talents from China is the current exhibition The 8 of Paths which showcases a generation of artists who have gained new possibilities and new freedoms to express themselves. Presenting 23 positions by young artists living in Beijing the goal of the exhibition is to promote China as a vibrant and artistic country. Even though this goal leaves some question marks inside my head, I really enjoyed visiting the exhibition at the Uferhallen in Wedding. The artworks are very diverse and showed me really interesting cultural insights into Chinese society and their art world. The exhibition runs until July 13th 2014 and every Wednesday they are also showing cinema screenings at 19h. My photographic impressions and the address and times after the jump.

I kept hearing about this new place Volta in Wedding now for the past few months and was very eager to check it out as it’s only a few blocks up my street. Located near the U8 subway stop Voltastraße it’s conveniently close to Mitte. Even though the super huge district Wedding still hasn’t found the type of Kiez infrastructure that we are all familiar with from Neukölln, Kreuzberg and Mitte, it still is developing quite nicely and offers more and more interesting places spread over its entirety.
The restraurant and bar Volta is the latest addition and quite an impressive one. No wonder, as it’s run by Cookies-chef Stephan Hentschel. The menu is quite diverse and very creative. Most of the dishes have the size of startes, so I recommend ordering at least two to get a taste of the variety. With prices between 5 and 7 EUR I think this is pretty fair, especially considering the great quality, refined look and awesome taste. My favorites are the red beet slices on yoghurt and the entrecôte on sticks. Delicious! The dessert is also quite exceptional, you have to try it! And what made the whole visit even better was the service which was super friendly and charming. This might very well become my new favorite place! Have a look at my impressions and the details after the jump.

Thinking about it, I’ve never actually been to a hen night, nor to a bachelor party. I’ve seen this tradition many times when I was still living near Simon-Dach-Strasse in Friedrichshain. A group of hysterical girls with rediculous outfits making a fuzz and invading bars and restaurants to play silly games with innocent bystanders. I’ve always found that to be a quite horrible tradition and hoped none of my friends would ever invite me to something like this. It’s just very unglamorous. When Berlin’s it-girl number one invited me to her bachelorette party, I had no choice but to say yes, because a) I was damn sure her party would be glamorous as hell and b) how can you say no to the lovely and talented Bonnie Strange? And the party was certainly an event of its own class: hot stripper, all male guests in drag (except me), a stretch limo, and a VIP area in a trashy club.
It was really heart-warming to see how much effort Bonnie’s friends put into this and only half-way through the night Bonnie already announced that this was the best night of her life. While I agree that the party was quite a lot of fun I certainly hope that the wedding will be able to top this! Good luck to her and her fiance Jakob, our fellow blogger from Dandy Diary. Some impressions of the night, after the jump

Why should we travel far away from our normal kiez to eat good? In Berlin we sometimes tend to avoid long trips to restaurants, simply because it’s inconvenient. It would be like missing out on Italy just because you are afraid of flying if you would never try to go to Da Baffi. This little culinary pearl at Leopoldplatz in Wedding has one of the best Italian kitchens in town. The address and the menu of the week after the jump.

I dedicate this post to all the commentors and readers of the this blog who like to bash on “new Berliners” and who are enimies of the evil that is the gentrification…
“Berlin is changing. The city’s leaders have plans for a sanitized Euro-capital. They’re replacing the city’s history and character with shopping malls and luxury condos. Their ideas for 21st Century Berlin landmarks: a fake Baroque palace and a copy of London’s giant ferris wheel. Berlin is a city of daring artists and irreverent dreamers.
“The Save Berlin Fest taps into Berliners’ enormous resource of imagination, asking for new visionary schemes for Berlin, to inspire debate and build a vision for the city’s future. Come join the conversation, and let’s show we can do better!”
This is how the makers describte their festival that is taking place for 3 days this weekend at Stattbad. It’s going to be a colorful program of music, parties, a bazar, childrens workshops, panel discussions, performances, film screenings, a brunch and a cabaret show. All aiming to show the diversity of Berlin’s subcultures. More infos after the click.

Love. It is the best thing in the world. And it is the worst. It can be everything you want. And it can dissolve into nothing. It can feel so good. And it can hurt like hell. But in the end, there is nothing more exciting than a Wild Romance…
Romantic impressions of last Saturday’s Disco Mystix party at Stattbad after the jump.
