Soda Books – A New Paradise for Magazines

Soda Books – A New Paradise for Magazines

Berlin has a new paradise for magazine lovers: Soda Books. Perfectly located right at Rosenthaler Platz at Weinbergsweg the elegant and minimalistic store opened earlier this year with an exquisite selection of the best magazines and books in the genres of design, fashion, lifestyle, art, travel, interior, food and so much more. You’ll find international classics such as The Gentlewoman, Dazed & Confused, Metal, Purple Fashion and Another Magazine, but also new and more rare titles such as the travel and lifestyle magazine Cereal, Le Petite Voyeur, Toilet Paper and Das Wetter, and of course also local publications such as OE Magazines, Sleek and 032c. You can tell that the people behind this place have an admiration for magazines already by the store design as the titles are presented like pieces of art in a gallery. Some impressions and the details after the jump.

Superconscious Store Berlin

Superconscious Store Berlin

Only a few months ago the lower end of the Weinbergsweg at Rosenthaler Platz got a brand spanking new fashion store called Superconscious. I was quite surprised to see something new pop up in this area as this street is mostly filled up with quite established bussinesses that never seem to change. But here we go, hello newbie!

I pressed my nose against the window of the interesting looking space quite a few times before I finally went in during their opening hours. It turned out to be more than I expected. The store is particularily interesting for men, even though they also have some womenswear. The selection of brands is what makes it so appealing for me: Unlike comparable shops like SoTo and Civilist this place has mostly upcoming street wear brands with different styles while maintaining a similar aesthetic. I’m always interested in labels that are either brand new or not so overly popular, so this is just my cup of tea. And I did sip of that tea quite a bit lately 😉 You’ll find great pieces by The Hentsch Man, Enclave, Topo Design, Muttonhead, Sheriff & Cherry and many more.

Get some impressions of the store after the jump and do drop by at Weinbergsweg 22.

Efa’s Frozen Yogurt

Efa's Frozen Yogurt

Two weeks ago a brand new frozen yogurt place opened at Weinbergsweg conveniently located close to Rosenthaler Platz. Considering the frozen yogurt hype first started in the States sometime in the 80s this is one of those trends that took forever to reach good old Germany. But as I am a big fan of yogurt ice cream I say: better late then never! Here in Berlin we have frozen yogurt now for a couple of years all started by Yoli. Since then a few places have opened. But what makes Efa’s Frozen Yogurt so special apart from it’s great location and original interior? Their yogurt is all organic! Some impressions and details after the jump.

Fleury – My Favorite Breakfast

Fleury – My Favorite Breakfast

The little cafe Fleury at Weinbergsweg has been around for a while. But it only got to my attention when I moved to the Prenzlauer Berg – Mitte area last summer. Since then it has become one of my favorite places to have cake and coffee or breakfast. They really have one of the best breakfasts that you can get (for under 10 EUR). It’s my absolute favorite. Try the Chevre Chaud salade, the mixed breakfast or the Croque Monsineur (which is better than in any place in Paris). The use only high quality ingredients which sets this place apart from any other breakfast cafe in the neighborhood and the best thing: They serve breakfast all day long, perfect for long sleepers such as myself. And in the summer (dreaming of it right now…) I love to get a rhubarb tarte and rhubarb spritzer and enjoy it on a blanket at the Weinbergspark around the corner (you could totally paint an impressionist picture of that…). Impressions and details after the jump.
