The new production of Puccini’s opera “La Fanciulla del West” at Staatsoper Berlin is giving us some real Wild Wild West vibes. What a piece to start the season with after this endless lockdown! The premiere on Sunday, June 13th, is actually already sold out, but because the demand was expected to be high after such a long time with closed stages, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden together with their long-term sponsor BMW came up with the idea of creating a drive-in cinema experience where viewers can enjoy a live stream of the premiere from the comfort of their car. As a special treat, we are giving away 5 tickets for the spectacle!
When you read the synopsis of “La Fanciulla del West” you probably ask yourself, wait, how is this supposed to be an Italian opera from the one and only Puccini? It goes a little something like that: “California, at the heyday of the Gold Rush: the place of people’s dreams turns out to be an inexorable wasteland, governed by the law of the jungle. Minnie’s bar is the only place where people live in peaceful coexistence. It is revered by gold seekers and fiercely presided over by the gruff Sheriff Rance. But when Minnie falls in love with a stranger who turns out to be the notorious bandit Johnson, the fragile community is turned upside down.”

It’s Berlin Art Week and the city has never been more full of amazing art! It’s in fact so much art to take in that you will definitely need a drink in between. Luckily, the Absolut Art Bar will be at your service this week at the Berliner Liste that’s taking place at the stunning industrial cathedral of the Kraftwerk.
Last year this art program by Absolut already took place in Berlin twice and we had the pleasure to curate our very own hot pink Art Bar with Italian illustrator Nicola Napoli here at Blogfabrik as some of you might remember.
For the new edition the Swedish vodka brand invited local artist Clemens Behr to create the Art Bar for the Berliner Liste art fair. For his installation titled Noasis he will incorporate the concrete aesthetic of the Kraftwerk where the event takes place and break the harsh structures with tropical greenery. We are looking forward to see the final result in the coming days at the Berliner Liste. And of course also to taste the special cocktail by the same name that was created in collaboration with the artist.

Wolfenbütteler Festspiele
Everyones favorite traditional German digestif Jägermeister is bringing their successful music program, the Wolfenbütteler Festspiele, to Berlin with the 4-day music festival Hubertusfest. From November 3-6 they are bringing established German bands such as Booka Shade, Jennifer Rostock, Kid Simius, Schluck den Druck and Romano together with newcomers such as Tüsn, Cosby and Chefboss to the stage at the Spreewerkstätten. Looking back at the many Jägermeister Wirtshaus Tour and Wolfenbütteler Festspiele events they have done in the past I can pretty much guarantee you that it’s going to be one hell of a blast.
One thing that makes this festival not only fun but also genuine is the support that the younger bands will receive through it. There is going to be three public nights with concerts. The first one is the Newcomer night that is free of entry. The second and third public nights will feature the more famous bands and ticket sales of these will actually co-finance the next music videos of the newcomer bands. We salute the spirit behind this, the older ones supporting the young. Cheers to that with a Jägi! After the jump you can find out more about the line-up and win tickets for the almost sold-out events!

In a few days it’s already here: This year’s early edition of the Berlin Festival. It normally took place in the Fall, but with the changes the festival is going through they also moved their date into the Spring to be the first festival of the year to open the festival season. Since it’s change of location from Tempelhof to the newly founded Arena Park that includes not only the Arena itself but also a lot of the space, venues and parks around it, the festival has experienced pretty much a reboot. We are totally in favor of these changes and like that it has more of a club atmosphere now and seems a bit more true to the spirit of Berlins nightlife.
Speaking of nightlife! Absolut is one of this year’s supporter of the Berlin Festival and they know a thing or two about creative nightlife. In support of the Berlin Festival they commissioned XI Design to create five big street art murals spread over several in town in the spirit of their Absolut Nights campaign. They look super fun and are great additions to all the ones we previously reported about. After the jump you can see a making of video, some photos and you’ll get a chance to win a pair of last minute Berlin Festival tickets!

When you put me in a room with technology, Freedom isn’t the first word that comes to mind; especially considering my comfort zone doesn’t extend much further than my laptop and DSLR. However, when I heard of the new Berlin-based audio company Raumfeld, I was intrigued by their wireless concept, sleek design and amazing sound quality. I first spotted a few sets of Raumfeld speakers at a Berlin Fashion Week show, perfectly balancing out the avant-garde aesthetic with their Bauhaus-inspired minimal design. So when Frank and I tried out a set of their Stereo M: Raumfeld speakers in his apartment I was a little intimidated by these purist-chic devices, but within minutes, I was blown away. Click on to see how these speakers truly live up to their slogan “Be Free” and find out how to win one of these treasures.

Today we have a special treat for you. If you have been in Berlin the last couple of days you might have noticed the one undeniable truth: Winter is knocking on our doors sending Autumn as gentle reminder. And as lovely some snow activities might be. Running around town with tons of clothes on heavy and bulky enough to make you feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame (even far away from Paris) does not make Winter the favorite season of the Berliners. But this year we found a clever solutions that might make you reconsider your Winter aversion.
Together with Japanese ultra minimalistic high-tech fashion brand Uniqlo we are giving away 10 Ultra Light Downs. This brand new fashion innovation is the perfect solution for the upcoming Berlin Winter. Thanks to a special new technology the jackets, vest, parkas and many more items are super light still being very warm. The silhouette is so sleek and lightweight, it can be worn under another layer. We had the chance to test them and are super impressed by its several features. Especially for biking I can recommend the vest to keep you warm without putting any additional weight on you.
This Saturday we are teaming with Uniqlo and host a special Ultra Light Down photo booth in front of their store at Tauentzienstraße. To find out what we have planned for you and how to win one of these special products read on after the jump.
UPDATE: The winners are picked. Check out the pictures from the event.
