Kinky Yoga Sessions in Berlin

Kinky Yoga Sessions in Berlin

Berlin loves fusing things. We thought it couldn’t get any better than last year’s Beer-Yoga trend. But never mind, Berlin is always good for a surprise, and apparently, so is Yoga. The next big thing is just around the corner: Kink Yoga. Get into it.

Inspired by the recent video from Reflective Desire, a kinky collaborative united in their love for latex, Madeleine White, Yoga instructor at Kreuzbergyoga, decided that it’s about time for a new Yoga movement. So, you can get on your finest Latex / Kink outfits and get into some sexy, sweaty Latex Yoga – Wait what? But then again, why not, right?

Unforgettable Berlin Moments: Pretty Priceless!

Unforgettable Berlin Moments: Pretty Priceless!

Using the metro for the first time, kissing a stranger on the dance floor, sitting on the roof and gazing at the city, when the sun rises; these are all moments, which Berliners and especially those of us, who have moved to the city, associate with, when it comes down to our beloved metropolis. One knows very well, that no matter how exciting other capitals might be, this feeling of curiosity, freedom and adventure can only be found in its purest form here.

Through Priceless® Berlin we had the opportunity to recommend you a variety of special places and moments. However, every one of you has a collection of special experiences, which belong to their very personal Berlin moments; and because these moments can vary for every person, I wrote down my own top three Berlin-Highlights, as I wanted to share them with you.

Namaste in the Subway: Yoga in Berlin’s U-Bahn

Namaste in the Subway: Yoga in Berlin’s U-Bahn

There are moments, when Berlin gets too fast, too hectic, too tense and you need to get rid of all that built-up stress in your mind and body. Finnish videographer Ilsa Hellman and Yoga teacher Katri Aalto produced a short movie that reminds you of the fact that you don’t need a specific time or place to relax and let go. Actually it’s even healthier, when you learn to integrate calmness into your daily life, create space and make time for quiet moments. No matter, who is watching.

The duo shot a film that shows Yoga in Berlin’s underground. The interaction between the Yoga teacher’s flowing movement and the geometrical architecture of the U-Bahn stations to a minimalized soundtrack, reminds you of keeping your balance, because that is what life’s basically all about. If it is about work-life balance or keeping it equal between social stress and alone-time. We suppose most of us know the struggles of keeping a balance in life.

Agape Zoe – The Coolest Yoga Festival in Berlin

Agape Zoe – The Coolest Yoga Festival in Berlin

photos: Grit Siwonia

Yoga is just for yuppies, for crazy hippie women or for body fanatics. The prejudices about yoga are numerous and persistent. And they are all true. Because yoga is for everybody. The yoga world is one of the most non-excluding bubbles I have ever stumbled upon. Either you wear a suit and work in a bank all week or wear a long hippie gown and sell tea in a tea shop. It doesn’t matter anymore when you are standing on the mat practicing yoga together. And that is actually kind of the best social side effect of yoga. People who would never interact with each other start speaking with a cup of tea in their hand after the class. For me it is the diversity of people practicing yoga that makes it a great social adventure all the times I go to my sun yoga studio.

If you are intrigued by this world of yoga and spirituality but never got the chance to experience it I can warmly recommend the Agape Zoe Festival. Inside in the paradisiac Eden Studios (where contemporary dancers train during the week) this weekend from September 10th till 11th a great spectrum of yoga, meditation and other approaches to all kinds of mind and body practices are presented. And since it is Berlin after the yoga classes there will be a nice electronic DJ set to finish gloriously. If you want to participate you can buy a ticket our take part in our raffle in the comments area. Check out their website for more info and watch the trailer and more photos after the jump.

Your Space – A new Place for Yoga & Meditation in Berlin

Your Space – A new Place for Yoga & Meditation in Berlin

photos: Alicia Kassebohm

The fertile fuel of the mythic Berlin of the 90s and early 2000s was the abundance of unused buildings and spaces all around the city, especially in the East. So many business opportunities for small entrepreneurs, night clubs, music venues and even for yoga studios became possible through affordable space. This created a spirit of daring, bold minds open to new and experimental entrepreneurial concepts. And even if the rents nowadays are rising, this spirit remains to enrich the city day by day with yet another new amazing local business.

One month ago my friend and Yoga teacher Michaela Aue discovered a hidden gem in the second backyard of Prenzlauer Allee: an unused loft space with the rough Eastern charm of 90s Berlin. The space inspired her to team up with meditation expert Sophie Weiser to create a unique idea: Your Space – a creative hub that doesn’t need a label. Your Space will offer regular yoga and meditation classes during the week and unique and inspiring workshops in different disciplines on the weekend. Well connected to the local scene Michaela and Sophie gathered some of the best teachers and practitioners in town to celebrate the art of connecting body and mind.

Check out their weekly schedule here and follow them on Facebook for news and updates. More pictures, address and info after the jump.

Forever Now Festival – A Transformational Journey

Going with the sense of time, a first-ever new festival is coming to Neue Heimat in the beginning of September with one question in mind: What makes one’s life worth living? How can we help to shape and transform our future to form a society that we want to live in? It’s about you as an individual, us as a culture and the society we’re living in. The organizers of the new Forever Now Festival created a line-up that approaches this topic from different angles – from interactive sessions to talks, music and food. Sexy Berlin – A Contemporary Guide to the Erotic Side of Berlin

Sexy Berlin – A Contemporary Guide to the Erotic Side of Berlin

With our beloved Mayor Klaus Wowereit leaving his post it also seems that his once so popular slogan “Berlin is poor but sexy” seems no longer suitable. Berlin is still not exactly rich, but with the development of the past 5 years you can’t simply label it as poor – “It’s complicated” would describe it more appropriately. But one thing is sure: Berlin is still damn sexy. And that’s not just because of all the ridiculously hot bearded guys and cute girls in town. It’s because Berlin is still one of the most sexually liberal, expressive and diverse cities you will come across on this planet. It’s ruthlessness, mysteriousness and unexpectedness is what draws so many people here and gives them the pleasure of a lifetime.

To celebrate Berlin’s sexiness we compiled a contemporary guide to the erotic side of Berlin featuring all the sexy places in town including shops, parties, galleries and activities. And for the new Mayor we have a suggestions for Berlin’s next slogan: “Cool and sexy”.

Summertime is Yogatime

Summertime is Yogatime

photo: Björn Ewers

Summer has surprisingly pop upped like a shop on Torstraße and is hopefully going to stay for a while.  Instead we would love to say goodbye to our winter bellies. They grew  around Christmas, became pregnant on Easter and have no intention to leave any time soon. Thankfully, this city is full of amazing fitness opportunities to choose from. But honestly speaking the regular sports would take quite a while to reshape us to the perfect sommer-lake-body. Extreme situation require for extreme measures. Therefore we recommend you to try Yoga and especially Hot Yoga. Going from the natural heat of the city to the artificial heat of a studio may seem absurd at first. But I reassure you that few things will make you get fit and toned again as this extreme way to exercise. Read our full yoga guide to Berlin to find out the best suited yoga studio for your kind of workout needs.  Also there will be a really big Yoga Festival here in Berlin where you can check out different workshops and yoga styles at a beautiful lake scenario. After the jump a stunning series of images that combines yoga and vivid, neon-lit typography shot by the Berlin photographer Björn Ewers. Happy Summer work out to everyone.

A Yoga Guide to Berlin

A Yoga Guide to Berlin

photo: Bobby Collins

For a lot of people starting in a new year means also trying to accomplish the pronounced new year’s resolutions of starting a new sport or loosing weight. Fair enough, there are a lot of extreme methods to do so like starting a crazy diet without carbohydrates or running a marathon everyday. But most of the extremist fall back after a month or two in their old unhealthy habits. A good way for starting slowly doing something for your health, spirit and body shape is yoga. Not only does it help even the most unfit person to get back into shape, but also gives you great balance in so many other areas like mental focus, healthy eating, balanced emotions and true human kindness. I started doing yoga after a serious break up and it was the best thing that could have happened to me and to my health.

That is why I want to give you some help in navigating through all the different yoga studios and yoga styles there are in Berlin. I found out that some people have a lot of prejudices against yoga and I also realized that many people don’t know that there are very different styles of yoga. Furthermore yoga is also about your personal search for the right teacher and the right way of doing it for your body. So this little guide may be just a helping push in the one or other direction. But everyone who is truly interested in an enlightening and healthy yoga experience must search for his own way of doing it. You might definitely find out that yoga can be one of the most time-consuming things in your life, because it only works on a regular basis. But it will also be the most rewarding thing for your overall health of body and spirit. My recommendations after the jump.
