Last month, the Berlin ballroom scene had another amazing event happening that gave me the opportunity to capture some exciting photos. The Whoriental Festival at Gretchen had many amazing performances and highlights, but one of the biggest one was the Kiki Ball hosted by German Overseer Parisa Juicy. It was the second edition of this ball and I think creating a special ball to empower ballroom participants from the SWANA region is a wonderful idea, especially since I felt they equally embraced people from several more cultures around the world that might not have their own spotlight on them.
With this concept, the ball had indeed a different vibe and aesthetic and I was so here for it! Thanks to Parisa for creating this space and also inviting me into it – it’s greatly appreciated! I hope my photos do the ball justice!
I also noticed what a wonderful space Gretchen is. It’s a shame that I make it there so rarely. They did a great job with the set-up and light which positively affected how amazing the ball looked. But of course the ball was carried by the talented participants. As always I loved the Face category – the storytelling of each participants entry made this so much more exciting. The Realness category was also so incredible – the family picnic theme was so fun and the interpretation of all three teams was just great.

The Vogue Femme category was also a big highlight, the teams of three structure created an exciting dynamic that made it really stand out. I certainly took the most fun action shots here in quite a while. Shout out to everyone who vogued their asses off here – and congrats to Misi you were the break-out star for me this evening!
But enough of the yapping, here come my photo set for you. As always: Ballroom performers and organizers are welcome to download and post their photos. A tag to @iheartberlin is greatly appreciated if you post them.
