The Weekend Party Guide (The Awakening)

Wu Lyf

OMG everybody is outside. Is it really only March? Let’s all go to a lake and the open air season has started too. Poor working people or even studying, what a waste of time!!! They’re all preparing their bycicles, the streets will be flooded once again with people who never really learned how to ride a bike. But in Berlin, they say, everything is possible. Iam a supporter of helmets, not the ones that make you look like the alien from the film Alien but a biker helmet or a snowboard helmet, what about that? No? Yeah, whateva. Parties from Thursday to Tuesday and how to win tickets after the jump:

Thursday

Dubstep obviously still being a niche to most of you out there has taken over control since quite a while. In Friedrichshain, on the map of nightmare between Ostkreuz and Treptower Park, where all new Berliners lose their rosy cheeks and their virginity, the About Blank every Thursday sacrifices a whole evening to this “niche” and they call it Impulse Dubstep with King Cannibal, DJ Mohak, Luc Masera, Lebowski and Dazid playing, Markgrafendamm 24c, S Ostkreuz!

Friday

Kaputt Session 5 is making an effort caring about solid electronic music. This time with Benjamin Fehr, Mia Grobelny – sub static, Aquarell, Gunne & Zuckermann – lebensfreude and the Hula Hula Reisegruppe at dark Morlox, also in Friedrichshain!

Friends of friends of friends are playing their favourite love songs. There is a kissing machine and – suprise deluxe: Citizens! are coming over to play a few records, how cool is that? With Remmidemmi and Fleshdance at What!? is Love? at What!? Club, Karl Liebkecht Str. Win tickets by writing a mail to suz@iheartberlin.de!

Saturday

Playtime with Namosh live at Hbc, furthermore the fabulous UhOh live, the vocalist being one sexy member of the dj duo Tigeress, as hot as blond can get. Joey Hansom is also playing at the former Gdr building right in Mitte!

And something for the electronic minimal lovers My Baby wants to ride with Woody (Fumakilla) who rocked massive halls together with oldie Westbam during the late 90s ( how did these guys survive? ), Demir & Seymen (Highgrade), Kollektiv Ost [3000º, Sat Rec.], Bara Bröst, Sacha Robotti, Kaemper at Suicide Circus in – OMG – Friedrichshain!

Minimal Wave at The Sameheads store in Richardstr. Yeah and who’s playing? Well, the Dada Disco guys, the spanish banana unicorn Capablanca and Veronica Vasicka from Minimal Wave, N.Y. And what exactly is minimal wave? It is a genre of electronic music which focuses on electronic, pre-MIDI (1982, but not pre-sequencer) instrumentation and themes of sincere detachment. It comprises obscure, atypical examples of genres such as New Wave, so-called “minimal” electronic or synthesizer music, Synthpunk, Synthpop, Post-punk, Coldwave, Electroclash and Electropop.
