The Week of Plenty

Wow, this week is packed with exciting events, especially in terms of contemporary and urban art there is a lot going on. But we also have something for fans young designers and a couple great concerts including Clara Hill, A Forest and Nôze . See for yourself after the jump.

Monday

Collection One is a young designer exhibition and sale showcasing graduates and start-up labels from Berlin. It takes place from March 21 – April 9, 2011, Mo-Sa from 10-19h, in the 4th floor of Karstadt at Hermannplatz. Particularily interesting is the menswear collection of Dyn.

The White Rabbit is a performance project that combines installation, video, theater and live music. As part of the Maerzmusik Festival for contemporary music they will premiere a new performance at Hamburger Bahnhof gallery, Invalidenstr. 50 (yes, in Berlin!) starting at 22h.

Wednesday

An Island, the movie by Vincent Moon with the music of Efterklang will be screened at Sing Blackbird, Sanderstr. 11, at 20h and at 21h.

Thursday

The crazy girls of Crystalmafia, who you might know from their fabulous photobooths at various parties, have created a comprehensive line of wearable art exclusively for the Baerck store (former Fourstore) at Mulackstr. 12. This line will feature jewelry and badges hand fashioned to accent any of the tasty tidbits found in the store. There will be an opening reception at the store starting at 18h.

Circle Culture Gallery opens the new solo show Pilgrem, Baby by Berlin-based artist XOOOOX who is one of the more popular street artists who made it into the galleries with his work. The opening starts at 19h. The exhibition runs until April 23rd, 2011. Gipsstr. 11.

Berlin/Leipzig-based band A Forest will play a release concert of their second record A Square at HBC, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9, at 20h.

Q & A – Neukölln’s finest pub quiz taking place every Thursday now at Sameheads, Richardstr. 10, 20:30h.

Friday

The Janine Bean Gallery at Torstr. 154 presents the solo exhibition of painter Marco Reichert. The opening reception of  Objects In The Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear starts at 18h. The exhibition runs until April 23rd 2011.

Just is opening their new community space Urban Art Central which is a creative space for workshops, exhibitions, talks and guided tours. They will kick of with a big group show of urban artists called Frühjahrsputz starting at 20h at the cellar of Skalitzer Str. 43.

Upstairs at the same time Skalitzers is opening the new solo show Tikathek by artist Tika. The opening starts at 19h at Skalitzerstr. 43. The exhibition runs until April 23 2011.

The Mira Moda Orchestra will play live with the wonderful Clara Hill (the voice of Jazzanova) this Friday at 20h at HBC, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9.

Appartement Interlude presents the exhibition Search & Destroy at Galerie Mikael Andersen, Pfefferberg Haus 4, U-Bahnhof Senefelderplatz, Entrance Schönhauserallee 176. Opening Party with live act B_MEN and DJs at 21h.

Saturday

Shusta – Berlin’s finest show shop – is opening its second floor at Rosenthaler Str. 72. The beautiful salon above the shop has so far been used for special events and artist residencies. But now it will become a spacious boutique expanding the shop concept with clothing. The grand opening starts at 18h.

Nôze live at Astra, Revaler Str. 99, starting at 20h.
