In this new era of live stream events, we want to introduce you to the upcoming digital premiere event by the Berlin-based digital artist and musician Portrait XO.
The experimental pop musician self-releases ‘AIV1’, the first single off her upcoming AI album ‘WIRE’; a co-creation between the artist and her AI second self. In collaboration with neural synthesis expert CJ Carr (DADABOTS), one hour of her vocals were fed into a neural network that generated ten hours of new audio. The polyrhythmic beats exemplify the glitchy sounds of her voice. The result is ‘WIRE’, set for release in 2020.
The visual journey of ‘AIV1’ is a nonsensical conversation between human and AI. The swirled sonic object is a representation of the AI voice, designed by CGI artist Harriet Davey. The morphing cube depicts her face morphing into AI-superimposed faces. 3D landscapes by Camila Roriz translate sonic textures.

Portrait XO is a singer-songwriter, producer, and live AV artist that blends physical and digital realities. Her work explores social, emotional and physical human-machine engagement. As a classically trained musician, she’s dedicated herself to years of unlearning fundamental approaches to find new ways of creating.
With live performances booked at Pop-Buro Stuttgart and United Nations AI for Global Good Summit, 2020 looks to be busy for Portrait XO in addition to the release of her debut AI music album, ‘WIRE’.
