In light of the recently released trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert’s notoriously dense sci-fi epic novel Dune, Mobile Kino think it’s important to draw attention to another story in the Dune adaptation saga.
In 1976, Mobile Kino favourite – Director Alejandro Jordorowsky (The Holy Mountain) tried his best to get a version of Dune made, with Salvador Dali as the emperor (who wanted $100,000 per hour to act in the movie).
The film never got made as different visions for the film conflicted, and budgetary issues held it in production for 2 and a half years.
This documentary follows the story of this unmade, but potentially stellar adaptation, and shows off the stunning concept art and incredible vision of one of cinema’s more challenging filmmakers.
