Kater Holzig Restaurant & Cafe

photo: Katja Hentschel

Some things are so highly anticipated that the excitement has already vanished by the time it finally arrives. That was also the case for Kater Holzig which is one of the new kids from the Bar 25 staff. When it was finally opening I wasn’t as excited as I thought I would be. But when I finally entered I realized that the long waiting paid off. The new terrain of pleasure looks amazing! I already have fantasies of how it will be when the initial hype is over and the fun stuff will beginn. So far I only had the chance to check out their Katerschmaus. After the jump you’ll find my review of the Kater Holzig restaurant.

The Gestalten Space

Gestalten Space Berlin

A few weeks ago the brand new Gestalten Space celebrated its grand opening at the Sophie-Gips-Höfe in Mitte right across from Barcomi’s Deli. The gorgeous space is far more then just a book shop. In the store you can buy not only the beautiful books of Berlin’s coolest publish house Gestalten but also household accessories and designer toys. The space is also home to a coffee bar and a big exhibition space that will be used for the artists that are published by Gestalten. Find photos and a video of the opening party over at the Gestalten Space Tumblr. Look after the jump for more details and impressions.

Vintage Fairy Tale

A new little store is opening on Saturday in the Bermuda triangle of Berlin fashion: Gormanstrasse, Münzstrasse and Steinstrasse. But for sure this shop is not there to impress with the newest designer stuff.  XVII – dix-sept is a personal, unconventional fairy tale vintage closet presenting a delicate and constantly changing vintage collection alongside desired beautiful things keeping up the dialogue between style and attitude. Selected treasures from the 60′s to the 90′s with favoured items are presented in one place. More informations and the flyer of this vintage opening after the jump. Read on – Weiterlesen »

Efa’s Frozen Yogurt

Efa's Frozen Yogurt

Two weeks ago a brand new frozen yogurt place opened at Weinbergsweg conveniently located close to Rosenthaler Platz. Considering the frozen yogurt hype first started in the States sometime in the 80s this is one of those trends that took forever to reach good old Germany. But as I am a big fan of yogurt ice cream I say: better late then never! Here in Berlin we have frozen yogurt now for a couple of years all started by Yoli. Since then a few places have opened. But what makes Efa’s Frozen Yogurt so special apart from it’s great location and original interior? Their yogurt is all organic! Some impressions and details after the jump.

Rising Phoenix

When I heard that A.D.Deertz was closing her flagship store at Kastanienallee earlier this year and would not make a summer 2011 collection, I was a little bit afraid that she would go out of business as so many cool Berlin-based designers have done over the past years. When I asked designer Wibke Deertz about it she assured me that she is not quitting but only taking a break. Back then I wondered, can you take a break from fashion for one season and then just come back? I think many designers wouldn’t dare to leave a season out because it could send the wrong signal out into the industry. It could look like a sign of failure.

But that is nothing but narrow-minded. Designers – just like everyone else – sometimes just need a break to regain their strength, collect new ideas, re-think their business, follow other projects, or just go on a long extended vacation. I’m sure every designer who works like a monkey to produce two collections per year would dream of a little time out.

Wibke took her time out. And now she is back. With a new concept and a new store. Come celebrate the rising phoenix this Saturday at Torstr. 106. Details after the jump.

.HBC Restaurant Re-Opening

.HBC Restaurant Re-Opening

photos by Glamcanyon

Last Thursday the .HBC invited everyone to the re-opening of their restaurant and bar. I had heard so many good things about their kitchen it was about time for me to try it out. The new interior is really beautiful and makes the whole place even cooler then it was before. New bar, new floor, new rooms for the restaurant and great food! The It Boys threw the after party in the pinkroom that was filled with styrofoam flakes. It was a lot of fun jumping around in it. But not so fun anymore when I lost my bag and sweater in it and had to go under looking for it while everyone else was jumping on top of me. Impressions of the food, the restaurant and the party by Katja after the break.

Everyone loves Dudu

Dudu

I kept hearing so much about Dudu lately I just had to check it out! The new Asian Fusion restaurant is located at Torstr. near Rosenthaler Platz. People are so crazy about it that reservations are neccessary most of the time. I tried the beef dish Kuh Auf der Weide which was really awesome and I like the rice that has a hint of coconut. Details and more photos after the jump.

Pastpresent Store Opening

Pastpresent Store

Last Saturday Berlin has increased about 20% in terms of coolness with the opening of the new Pastpresent store at Köpenickerstr. 96. The beautiful black store features mainly the menswear labels Livio and 24/7 Suits, but also has a few other accessorie labels like Moga E Mago that premiered on the Designer Scouts runway only 2 months ago.

We were especially thrilled by the extensive selection of hats. I actually found so many nice pieces that it really hurt that I had already spent all my money in London… After the jump you’ll find impressions from the opening and the details.
