Mother Drucker is a gallery and a studio for screen printing based in Kreuzberg. They have done prints for artists such as Jaybo Monk and XOOOOX and also represent a couple of artists in their gallery. In addition to their screen printing services they are also offering screen printing courses to creative people in the city. The next course starts on April 16th and will be held on four Saturdays in a row. Details after the jump.

© NADAV KANDER, CHONGQING II, CHONGQING MUNICIPALITY, 2006
On Monday morning I had the pleasure to interview the press representative of Camera Work – one of Berlin’s most important galleries for photography. At this occasion I could also get a fast overview of the current exhibition. The visitor has the chance to relate to the topic of ecological mishabits of humanity through two different perspectives. On the upper floor there are pictures by Robert Polidori of several scenarios from the abandoned city of Pripyat near the reactor of Chernobyl. On ground floor you’ll find series about the Chinese river Choncquing by Nadav Kander. All pictures are equally impressive and horrifying. A great photographic lecture on the price of human civilisation: distruction of nature. Opening times and more pictures after the jump.

Robbekah Ritchie, Performance, 2010
We are getting too cosy and sweet on this poor little blog for my taste. I know that the Christmas feeling has come over us. But that’s no reason to loose all our edges. So I recommend a non-Christmas related event for the weekend. Just to get back on the usual Berlin is so fucked up feeling. After Kippenberger is an exhibition taking place at the Marzia Frozen Gallery. Don’t miss the opening reception this Saturday with some sexy performances and cool artwork. The flyer and the directions after the trash.

Comeback, André Wagner
A while ago one of our Designer Scouts photographers sent me an invite to a group exhibition at photo edition berlin that he is part of. When I took a look at the sample photos from all the participating photographers this moody night scene in a forest was my instant favorite. It reminded me a lot of my all time favorite TV show The X Files. And what a coincident: it is the work of the photographer who invited me: André Wagner. After the jump a few other great photos of the exhibition and the details.

Tomorrow night there is going to be a very special installation by Russian artist Alexei Kostroma opening at Wilde Gallery that we would like to recommend. The artist has lived through quite a wild history lately. About a year ago he was shot by his jealous wife in the head and in his right hand. He miraculously survived and his hand recovered. His installation Feathered Chaos is a celebration of the events in life, both good and bad, that are beyond our control, a poignant reminder that in order to overcome life’s unpredictable and seemingly insurmountable hardships, all we need to do is lighten up. Jump after the jump for infos now and into the feathers tomorrow. As Russian tradition requires there will be a lot of Wodka…

No city gives street artists so much credit like Berlin does. I love to see tourist photographing little Lucys with her cat or other artworks. One really nice artist whose work was on my radar since he did the design colaboration with the scarf designer Aschön is PABO. PABO’s distinctive portraits have been appearing at carefully selected spots around Berlin.
He will show his work this Friday at Superplan. This little Gallery is not only known for its urban inspired exhibitions but also for quite affordable prints. Take a look after the jump for more work of PABO and the flyer of the exhibition.

Some of you who have been following us for a while now already know that I am a big fan of Friedrichshain-based artists Mateo and Johan Potma and their wonderfully absurd, yet cuddely monsters of the Zozoville Gallery. They just released their brand new 2010 calendar which is once again a charming collection of creatures you would never have imagined. Tomorrow they will also host the opening party of their new exhibition The Make Believe Show including a silent auction, food and drinks. Of course you can also get the calendar there or order it here. More images and details after the jump.

Some of you might know the iconic illustrations of Dutch artist and designer Parra from his limited edition shirts and hoodies by Rockwell. This Thursday he will open his first solo show in Berlin at Pool Gallery in Mitte. If you prefer the t-shirts over his paintings you should drop by his pop-up shop at Wood Wood that will be open for the length of the exhibition starting this Saturday. The details after the jump.

A few months back Danish artist Lars Bjerre presented a massive selection of his work in his first solo show here in Berlin. I was not only amazed by the size of his artworks and the amazing space he was showing them in, but also by his versatility that goes far beyond what you can see here in my posts. I know a lot of you went to see his critical take on society, so I’m sure you will be interested to hear that this Thursday he will open his second show at Komet Gallery in Mitte. More art and details after the jump.

Sneewittchen – Camille Rose Garcia, 2009
On my usual hunt for new things to blog about I once again browsed my frequented galleries if they had anything new going on. And as luck has it one of my favorite galleries – the Merry Karnowski Gallery at Torstrasse – is opening a brand new fabulous group show by the name Sister Cities – Los Angeles / Berlin tomorrow! For 2 months and a half they will exhibit the works of twelve talented artists form both cities – one of which is Camille Rose Garcia who’s sad icebear I am still in love with. Go look after the jump for more art and details.
