7 Romantic Places for a First Date in Berlin

Some say dating in Berlin is an extreme sport. Interestingly, it’s a rare discipline that doesn’t necessarily get much easier with practice. And when you do manage to find a match, the age-old question of the location for the first date arises. We’ve come up with a list of seven locations that can serve as a romantic backdrop for your grand occasion.

Rosengarten Weinbergspark

This lovely corner near Rosenthaler Platz is a perfect starting point for a date. If everything feels right, you can proceed to a number of nice bars and restaurants close by. If it doesn’t go well, at least you’ll part in a well-connected area so your trip back home shouldn’t take too long.

Mauerpark

Mauerpark, the long-standing staple of all Berlin tour guides, has undeniable magic. You can experience it while sitting down among the lavenders on a hill overlooking the park. There’s even some chance that you’ll get to hear live music.

Engelbecken

Engelbecken can be an option for you if you need a break from the Landwehrkanal, but not from Kreuzberg. The change of scenery between the two is real – but if you’re not repulsed by flowerbeds, you’ll probably like it.

Kolonaden

The colonnade at the Museum Island might be a bit touristy, but after all, it is one of the most remarkable settings in Berlin. It also provides you with a chance to seem cultured by reading up on all the museums and then effortlessly weaving your recently acquired knowledge into your conversation.

Märchenbrunnen

Märchenbrunnen, which lies within the Volkspark Friedrichshain, is arguably the most pleasant spot in the entire district. The beautiful architecture surrounding the fountain will surely add to the aesthetic value of your stroll.

Körnerpark

If your date has never been to Körnerpark before, there’s no way they won’t be impressed with this lovely park located just a short walk away from the busy Hermannstaße. You can sit down on one of the benches or throw a blanket on the grass and enjoy the picturesque surroundings while keeping the option of a quick retreat back to the city jungle.

Rosengarten Humboldthain

The rose garden in Humboldthain can be a good location for a first date, especially if hiking lies among your mutual interests or/and you both live in Wedding. You also might want to check out the view over the city from the huge war bunker that’s located in the same park.
