Then we have a little surprise for you: We are inviting you to our iHeartBerlin New Year’s Eve House Party! Yes, all of you. We have invited six of our favorite DJs to give us the best music for the most celebrated night of the year: Hara Katsiki, Eliza Foxxx, Oh Sophia, Joey Hansom, Hannes Smith and Mate.
And where does the party take place? At YOUR house, silly! Our DJs made some exclusive mixes and mixtapes for your NYE house or warm-up party. In 2011, the number of techno record releases has increased significantly. Due to software such as Ableton it has become a Kindergarten game to produce electronic music. Nowadays everybody who can push a software button calls himself a producer.
However, quantity is not quality. Most of the electronic music that was produced in 2011 will be forgotten in 2012. Nevertheless, there were also a significant number of tracks this year that I will always remember. Together with Relentless Energy Drink we were wondering, what you can actually do here in Berlin if you want to go on full throttle and make no half measures. We’re not looking for the usual coolness and understatement, but for a real thrill, racing heartbeat and adrenalin rush. Even though their last album Head First was not really my cup of tea, Goldfrapp still remains one of my all-time favorite bands with amazing songs such as Utopia, Strict Machine, Oh La La and A&E. In the beginning of Febuary 2012 they will release their first Best Of album summing up all their singles plus two brand new songs. One of them has been released a few days ago: the charming and dreamy Yellow Halo, with a video that was shot with an iPhone by director Lisa Gunning who also happens to be Alison Goldfrapp’s girlfriend.
