Pansy Presents Halloween 2023 at SO36

Pansy Presents Halloween 2023 at SO36

After doing her thing in the far West of Berlin for the past year, PANSY is back at it again in Kreuzberg at the iconic SO36 – a club with such a rich history reaching all the way back into the days of David Bowie and Iggy Pop. This month she is doing not one but two events there – the first one being her big Halloween spectacle that happened earlier this week and brought back some of her favorite drag performers and friends to the stage for some bloody fun.

PANSY’s Halloween events are truly legendary. Of course a lot of events and parties slap the word Halloween into their title these days, but let’s be honest, most of them will not diverge much from their regular program and not a lot of guests will really dress up for the occasion. It’s also not really in the spirit of Halloween to move the event conveniently to the weekend. It is, after all, a holiday on the 31st of October – for a reason.

Halloween And A Trip Down Party Memory Lane

Halloween And A Trip Down Party Memory Lane

You know we love a good party, and you can imagine being locked up for the last 1,5 years has been a challenge. It has been itching under our fingernails now for a while, so when our former iHeartBerlin party writer Suz asked us if we wanted to do a Halloween party with her at Backyard it was pretty much a given we would jump at the opportunity.

Backyard has a place in our hearts because we celebrated so many parties here, most famously the iconic Last Days parties. Those of you who have been around here for a while might even remember the various party photo sets we published in those days. It was certainly something that shaped iHeartBerlin and its place in the Berlin blog and magazine world.

Serie/ous Addiction: Scary Tales

Serie/ous Addiction: Scary Tales

We haven’t done a new “Serie/ous Addiction” post in a while mostly due to the fact that we’ve covered the new Berlin-related TV shows either individually – like Babylon Berlin or 4 Blocks – or paired with movies – such as this massive listing. But a recent new Netflix show has spiked my desire again to write about addictive shows and paired with the occurrence of Halloween I thought it would make a lot of sense to write up a new round of recommendation with the theme of horror.

Scary and suspenseful shows have always fascinated me (with The X Files being my first favorite show as a teenager) but to be honest, it’s rare that this genre creates something truly original or surprisingly frightening. But for some reason, this year (possibly inspired by the horrific politics in the world) saw the release of quite a lot really good horror shows. And maybe you haven’t heard of some of them, so here are my recommendations.

A Black Unicorn Halloween

A Black Unicorn Halloween

Yes, Halloween is around the corner. A weird festivity we love to hate, nothing but another reason to look bizarre and have 5 drinks too many. We cannot relate. We aren’t cheap, we aren’t trashy, we’re intricately, mysteriously fabulous! We are missing that occasion that represents us. *sigh* Where’s the candy? We need tasteful, sugary distractions. But, when we reach into that lil’ limited edition bag from wonderland and get out one of these lil delicious gems – we stop. What is this in our hands? It has the form of … a lil’ black unicorn, by Katjes, all veggie!

The Most Dreaded Moments in Berlin

The Most Dreaded Moments in Berlin

illustrations: Berk Karaoglu

With Halloween coming up in just a month, we thought we’d embrace the everyday spooky scenarios we are constantly exposed to in Berlin. And while the standard Berliner does not get intimidated by darkness, demons, or ghosts, and, as a matter of fact, is usually rather encouraging of experiencing any amount of supernatural visions, there are still some things that make us freak out. We’ve selected 5 top examples for both your reading pleasure and party inspo – I personally can’t think of a cooler way to boost up your Halloween game than arriving dressed up as a letter from Waldorf Frommer.

SXX SELLS Halloween Edition Party Photos

SXX SELLS Halloween Edition Party Photos

After I missed the last 3 edition I finally made to the SXX SELLS party that is run by my fellow bloggers Laura, Dustin, Basti & Marc, Jan and their friends Candida and Matthias. It was the Mean Girls Halloween Edition and it was quite the party! To be honest I haven’t seen a party with such a beautiful crowd and as fun as this in quite a few years (except for our own events of course…) and I was happy to be there and take photos. If you enjoy the latest pop music and are not too cool to publicly dance to it, than this is your place! Enjoy my impression on 3 pages after the jump and next time let’s all be Mary Jane Holland on the dance floor.

House of Haunted Hearts – Photos Part 3: The Workshop

With the final photo set of our House of Haunted Hearts Halloween event we want to show you the impressions of the costume workshop with the sweet guys from Dodo Magazine. They came up with really clever and cute monster costumes and it was really a pleasure for me to see our and their readers come together to get crafty. That’s a new one even for us! Here are some before&after GIFs from the participants. Thanks a lot to the make-up team of Jenna Smith, as well as to Glacéau vitaminwater and Michelberger’s Fountain of Youth for the refreshments! If you haven’t seen them, don’t miss the photo sets of the haunted house, the party and the haunted porn booth. The workshop photos after the jump!
