Berlin is such a diverse and inspiring city – so it’s not surprising that musicians love to use the streets of Berlin for their music videos and let their production take place in the city. That often leads to very nice results and we love to watch these videos where you can discover your street or the “Späti” around the corner.
After the jump you can watch some of our favorite music videos shot in Berlin. Do you know even more? We’re happy to hear about it!

Spiegelsaal, Clärchens Ballhaus
We love Clärchens Ballhaus! It’s one of the only remaining old houses on Auguststraße in Mitte and it radiates history like very few other buildings.
Here you can enjoy easy-going and yummy traditional German food and pizza along with a beer in the garden in a charming atmosphere between the old walls and you can feel the many years that this place has already existed. In the nights you can dine or listen to concerts in the famous “Spiegelsaal” ball room, a beautiful old hall of over 100 years – decorated, as the name suggests, with many mirrors. But the heart of Clärchens is its main ball room – day by day there are dancing events and you can also be active in courses like standard, salsa or tango.
Established in 1913 by the family Bühler the house is one of the last ball houses of Berlin. We wanted to learn more about it and found a wonderful book: Berlin tanzt in Clärchens Ballhaus: 100 Jahre Vergnügen – eine Kulturgeschichte. Learn more about it after the jump.

Nearly every little girl dreams about becoming once a famous ballerina, right? And the dream never completely disappears even when you get older – the idea of being able to move gallantly through the rooms in a pink tutu, with your legs up in the air and the arms swinging like wings of a swan is to charming…
The photographer Luca Migliore captured this lightness of a dancer and photographed a ballerina in some iconic Berlin places – and we think that’s a winning combination. Here you can enjoy the acrobatic positions of the dancer and simultaneously see beautiful places of Berlin that show a lot about the history of Berlin. See the photos after the jump. Happy dreaming!

Berlin is an oasis of opportunities to enjoy beautiful and exciting places. But it offers even more – our city has a lot of architectural highlights, or let’s say a very interesting mix. The buildings are colorful, modern, old, morbid, crazy and totally worth seeing! We’ve looked closer at the work of the Berlin-based photographer Sebastian Murrer who has a huge collection of architectural photos of buildings in Berlin that we might not have really paid much attention before.
See some of his photographs of – in our opinion – the most interesting pieces of architecture in Berlin – after the jump.

It’s time for another edition of the Berlin Alternative Fashion Week – some exciting days are awaiting us! A week with lots of cool parties and catwalks which are very special and totally different from the regular Fashion Week. Young designers get the chance to present their fashion and there is no limit to creativity – on the contrary, the more outrageous and crazy the designs are, the more the viewers heart will be delighted. This week music, art and fashion merge into an alternative concept – it’s about freedom, gender roles and a new identity. Many designers offer innovative, sustainable work – and that’s a great opportunity for the young participants to be encouraged in their work and to still be able to remain free in their development and creativity.
The Berlin Alternative Fashion Week takes place for the third time in Berlin – starting on the 23rd and ending on September 27, 2015. The presentations will take place at the Postbahnhof, the opening party is at Maze and together with Apollo.tv there will be a presentation of short films and documentaries on Sunday.
Last time we had a lot of fun and discovered great new designers – we’re sure that the concept this time will be stunning as well. See the teaser by Apollo.tv and a preview of the designers and get your chance to win festival tickets after the jump.

We know you’re city kids and you love Berlin for its cool districts, the freaky people, and the party next door. But how about a bit of recreation, silence and a nice trip with the family? For tourists it’s not necessarily the first meeting point, but Zehlendorf and neighboring Dahlem and Wannsee offer a lot of beautiful places that you should visit in your spare time. We created a small guide for your next trip to these charming districts – read more about it after the jump.

photo: Britta Thie, Translantics
Translantics is a new web series about a group of artists and creative people in Berlin, produced by Schirn Kunsthalle and ZDF in collaboration with ARTE Creative. It was created, written and directed by the artist Britta Thie, who also plays the main character BiBi in the show. The story is about her and her two best friends how they navigate their life and work in Berlin. They’re dealing with the fast-forward life of young ambitious artists who jump from situations of comfort with friends and lovers to awkward encounters with competing artists. Their relationships are continually re-networked and auto-updated. You can feel the loss of intimacy because „emotion, affect, and intelligence have become products on an already flooded market“…

The first day of a new week is waiting in the wings. While some are still lying in their beds getting the sleep they need for their first working day of the week, the party crowds are just stepping out of clubs after a weekend of partying – enjoying the last hours of an amazing weekend.
For almost two years the Berlin-based photographer Moritz Jekat has walked the streets at 6 am on Monday mornings searching for these party people. He photographed the young folks who danced the night away and just stepped out of clubs like Kater Holzig, Kater Blau, About Blank, Golden Gate, Berghain and Renate.
Have a look at some shots of tired but cheerful – and mostly surprisingly fresh – looking people after the jump.
